Russian soldiers who have been captured were left in tears as they claimed Vladimir Putin was throwing their comrades into mass graves. They have also called for an uprising against Putin. A group of Russian soldiers sent to fight in Ukraine criticized their own government during a press conference with news agency Interfax-Ukraine.

Russian soldiers Alexei Zheleznyak, Mustafaev Mugsad, Igor Rudenko and Alexander Fomenko expressed their anguish as they opposed the ongoing war. They said it was hard to see their friends being killed every day.

Zheleznyak, a soldier of the 34th separate motorized rifle brigade stationed in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic of Russia, reportedly accused Putin of being "a liar and a deceiver of all our people". "Putin, without declaring war, is bombing residents, hospitals, cities of Ukraine," he said. "People of Russia, don't look at the zombies. The Ukrainian people are a brave people. They will stop this (Russian) equipment even without weapons. They are united. No matter how much Putin sends his troops here, he will not capture this territory... Our commander-in-chief is a liar and a deceiver of all our people. He deceived not only us, but the whole of Russia. He simply made fascists out of us."

Mustafaev Mugsad, of the same rifle brigade, said, "People will remember our aggression for centuries. People, military men of Russia, finally take off your rose-coloured glasses and see what is happening in Ukraine." Mugsad apologized for the fact that "the troops of the Russian Federation brought grief and destruction, in one day crossing out the peaceful life of the Ukrainian people."

Alexander Fomenko, commander of the automobile department of the 126th separate coastal defence brigade, said an uprising against Putin is needed. "I ask you to take to the streets," he said. "Do not be afraid of our government. They will not trample on the crowd. Yes, they will detain 10,00-20,000 people, but there are more of you. You can go out and stop this chaos. Peaceful people suffer here, children."

Meanwhile, a series of mobile crematoriums are claimed to be a part of Russia's war arsenal in Ukraine. The crematoriums are allegedly designed to disintegrate the bodies of dead soldiers and civilians in an attempt to conceal the ongoing war's real death toll. A video of the crematoriums, originally posted in 2013, has resurfaced with renewed grim and fear. The trucks contain hidden incinerators but the exterior looks like regular vehicles. According to Western defense experts, these may be used to incinerate the bodies of soldiers to try and cover up the evidence of casualties.

When the war began. members of the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers of Russia have claimed that some of Vladimir Putin's young soldiers sent to fight in Ukraine were actually tricked into enlisting. The members have claimed that the soldiers, who were sent off to the conflict, were taken to the border after being told that they were heading there for practice drills. The soldiers, according to the committee, were beaten if they tried to back out.

The non-governmental committee formed in 1989 released a statement, with Andrei Kurochkin, the deputy chairman of the group, telling Russian site Takie Del, "We've had a flurry of calls from scared mothers all over Russia. They are crying, they don’t know if their children are alive or healthy." "If there is a war, then professionals should deal with it, not untrained green guys," he added.

The young men were allegedly told that they were going to the border for drills. "They are switching entire regiments to contract [soldiers,] although the guys did not submit any formal requests for this, and took no such initiative," Kurochkin said. "There are instances of physical violence, and beatings of those who refuse to become contract soldiers. And after that, it’s completely unknown [what happens to them] because they take away their phones."
