A recent comment by 5 Seconds of Summer member Ashton Irwin has surprisingly got another member, Calum Hood, trending instead. If you're wondering why there is a strange twist in their online popularity, it's because fans are eager to see Hood's response to his bandmate.

It all started when Irwin took to his social media to celebrate the eight-year anniversary of their early track 'Heartbreak Girl' from 5 Seconds of Summer's self-titled debut album. While members of the band are often loved for their sense of fun and humorous disposition, Irwin tweeted, "8 years ago we released a song called 'heartbreak girl'. This songs cute as hell."

If you're a longtime fan of the band, it is no secret that Hood has a strong distaste toward the song. The band themselves are not particularly fond of the song as well but have recognized its popularity among fans. According to Pressparty, the group opted to leave 'Heartbreak Girl' out of their catalog for their 2016 tour, the 'Sounds Live Feels Live World Tour'.

Some discussions and fan comments online speculate that the reason that 5SOS doesn't favor the song is that they have simply grown up. 'Heartbreak Girl' released in 2014 when the band members were very young and going through teenage angst (with such a resonance in the song), and now they're in their mid-twenties. In short, the song showcases a different vibe to what they're about now in their music.

Fan reactions

On Twitter, fans are demanding a response from Hood who would expectedly have a lot of words to add to Irwin's tweet. One fan shared a meme with Hood in visible pain and frustration, writing, "calum when ashton called heartbreak girl 'cute as hell.'" Another reaction meme included "Hood's" response: "bitch, hold da faq up." Check them out below:

One fan said, "we can’t talk about heartbreak girl (cause calum)." "The song everyone loves but calum hates it with a burning passion :)" wrote one fan. One fan commented on the song itself, saying, "she was a serve AT THE TIME but it is the original pick me boy anthem i’m SORRY."

So, where is Calum Hood?

Despite Hood's famous burning hate for 'Heartbreak Girl', the 5SOS bassist is yet to reply to his bandmate's tweet. Some fans think the pair may be sitting together for Irwin to drop the tweet as a joke, but it was posted during the late hours of Monday, February 15, night, so Hood is possibly sleeping and missing out on his trending name on Twitter. As far as his music goes, Hood is still very much a huge part of 5 Seconds of Summer and their pop-rock legacy.
