LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A three-year-old toddler has died in what authorities are calling a "tragic drowning accident" in Porter Ranch, Los Angeles. Kai Bernabe and his twin brother Liam were found lifeless in their family's backyard pool located at the intersection of Tampa Avenue and Chatsworth Street.
Three-year-old Kai Bernabe dies in a drowning accident after he and his twin brother, previously thought to be four years old, were discovered lifeless in their family's backyard pool in Porter Ranch, Des Moines Avenue, Los Angeles. According to Los Angeles Times, the boys' parents, Jasmine and Anthony, found them in the pool and performed CPR with guidance from Los Angeles Fire Department dispatchers on the phone. Kai passed away in Northridge Hospital three months before his fourth birthday, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office.

According to reports, authorities responded to "frantic calls" from the parents on 911 and attempted to revive their sons at around 10 am. Fire department officials provided first aid to the infants before an ambulance arrived at the scene, the Daily Mail reported. Kai Bernabe died while his twin brother continues to fight for his life.
LAFD Captain Eric Scott confirmed the death of one of the boys and stated, "Paramedics worked feverishly to provide every chance possible for these children." He added, "There's nothing to indicate anything beyond a tragic accident here," as per the publication.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for the twins, Dylan Alejandro wrote, "On April 21, every parent's nightmare became a reality for Jasmine and Anthony. Kai, one of their twin boys was taken to Heaven, while Liam continues his fight." Alejandro added, "There are no words to describe the pain the family is feeling."
The family stated, "This fundraiser is an effort to relieve the family of the financial toll of this tragic and unexpected loss. Please continue to pray for Liam's recovery and for the family as they mourn."
