Alex Murdaugh trial: Buster Murdaugh remains stoic as father is convicted of killing his wife Maggie and son Paul
WALTERBORO, SOUTH CAROLINA: Alex Murdaugh has been found guilty of murdering his wife Maggie and son Paul on Thursday, March 2, 2023. The 54-year-old heard the judgment after six weeks of testimony. The judgment was heard by his older son Buster Murdaugh, who was present in the court.
The jury found the famous lawyer guilty of two counts of murder at the end of the trial. "The evidence of guilt is overwhelming," said South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Clifton Newman said as he rejected a defense motion. Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were shot at their family estate on June 7, 2021. The sentencing has been scheduled for 9.30 am on Friday morning.

How did Alex Murdaugh react after hearing the judgment?
Murdaugh was seen shaking and frozen as he listened to the judgment. During the trial, he was constantly seen crying during the testimony. However, he did not get emotional or had any change in expression as he listened to the verdict. He looked ahead and stayed frozen. Later on, he was brought out of jail and he still remained calm. Meanwhile, he turned to Buster and mouthed “it’s okay” as the verdict was handed down.

Buster looked stoic and composed as he heard the judgment of the case. He kept a straight face as he witnessed the moment his father was was convicted of killing his brother Paul and mother Maggie. Buster was in full support of his father throughout the trial. He even testified in his father's defense. Throughout the trial, he, along with other family members, came in full support of Alex. The jury reached a unanimous verdict after hearing and spending less than three hours deliberating on the case. The 26-year-old could be seen as his left hand rested against the side of his face as each jury member confirmed their verdict.
What did Buster Mudraugh reveal in the testimony?
Buster said during the testimony about Murdaugh's reaction, "He was heartbroken. I walked in the door and saw him, gave him a hug. He was destroyed." Buster claimed to the jury that he and his father showered at Moselle the following morning after the death. He added that his father showered a lot as it was very hot at Moselle in the summer and Alex was 6'4" and 250 pounds at the time. Buster also claimed that his brother Paul kept guns at different locations. He said, "Sometimes, he would use my gun, and he would leave it, and then I would have to track it down," according to The People.
