BTOB 4U drops legendary video for 'Outsider' as they release comeback album
BTOB debuted in the year 2012, and with their first major release 'Born to Beat' they became one of the most well-known K-pop acts over time. Under Cube Entertainment, the group consisted of six members, two of which are currently enlisted for their mandatory military service. Since Hyunsik and Sungjae’s enlistment, the members of BTOB have been in a temporary sub-unit called BTOB 4U that was last seen as a veteran group on the reality show, 'Kingdom: Legendary War'.
After BTOB appeared on the show, fans were anticipating a comeback from the boys. They announced the release of their 13th mini-album, ‘4U: Outside’ - where all four boys took active part in the composition and production of the songs. The album has 6 tracks with ‘Outsider’ as its title track. Members Minhyuk and Peniel have contributed to all 6 songs’ lyrics. The album also features a surprise track written and arranged by Hyunsik, who is currently enlisted for his mandatory military service and will only be able to see fans in May of next year.

The concept for the album
The special album '4U: OUTSIDE' shows the unique visuals each of the 4 members of BTOB have in the two versions, 'Silent' and 'Awake' . The black-and-white teaser 'Silent' tried to show a chic image of the boys while the teaser 'Awake' tried to show their natural charm. In addition, the “omnibus” style of the music video featuring each member's story is also eye-catching.
The b-side 'Waiting 4 U' was especially written by Hyunsik Lim. Changsub said in a press conference that the song feels even more special as Hyungsik’s feelings are buried in the song that he made before enlisting asking Melodies to wait for him as he returns soon to see them again.
‘I am an outsider’
The title song 'Outsider' has lyrics by Jhun Ryan alongside members Lee Minhyuk and Peniel that enhance its musical perfection. The music video for the song was released on August 30 along with the entire album for fans globally at 6 pm KST (5 am ET.) The song begins with the beats of a trumpet as all four boys appear to be on set. The boys had specific roles for the video where Changsub showed the mundane life of an average common man who turned into Jay Gatsby from 'The Great Gatsby'; Peniel on the other hand played the part of a hero from a James Bond movie; Minhyuk said that his role was to pay homage to a character from Sin City. While Eunkwang played the character of a zombie.
In the video, Changsub is first seen talking about being an outsider. The video then sees a sudden shift as Peniel starts rapping while all the boys sit with him at the poker table. In a flashback shot, fans can see what appears to be a cop. Soon Peniel says, “I don’t wanna be the same as everybody else” as the other members point their guns at him asking, “What do you wanna be?” That is when the chorus begins with Eunkwang in the lead singing, “I wanna be an outsider.”
