Shane Warne's daughter Brooke reveals 'mental struggle' over 'unauthorized' biopic of hellraiser dad
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Speaking at a non-profit gala in Melbourne, late cricket legend Shane Warne's daughter Brooke opened up about her mental struggles following Channel Nine's announcement about her father's biopic. She attended the event on Sunday, October 2, to raise awareness regarding mental health support and suicide prevention. The biopic in question was "unauthorized" since Brooke did not approve of the TV movie.
Brooke expressed her agitation in the past by slamming Channel Nine for the "disrespect." Sharing a story on Instagram, she said, "Do any of you have any respect for Dad? Or his family? Who did so much for Channel 9 and now you want to dramatise his life and our family’s life 6 months after he passed away? You are beyond disrespectful.”

She had posted the story after an 'insensitive' discussion happened between Channel Nine presenter Jo Hall and radio personality Dee Dee Dunleavy.
According to Daily Mail, Brooke reportedly said that her involvement with the charity helped her to deal with Channel Nine's decision of making a movie based on her father's life even though his family was against it. She said, "With the extra media scrutiny created by dad’s passing I need to stay mindful to deal with the attention. Especially with the negative aspect, such as the total disrespect shown by Channel Nine in creating a biopic about dad so soon after he passed."
Following the backlash from Warne's family, Channel Nine started holding emergency talks to tide over the situation. Warne's former manager James Erskine reportedly met the channel's director of television Michael Healy and head of drama Andy Ryan recently on behalf of the family. Considering the fact that Channel Nine made this announcement shortly after the death of the cricketer and began with the pre-production within three weeks of his death, the decision had put his eldest daughter in mental unrest. She had expressed strong disapproval regarding this decision in the past.
Earlier this year, Amazon also released a documentary that traced the journey of the Australian cricket star. He was the title bearer for the most international wickets taken by an Australian athlete. He claimed 708 test wickets across 145 matches played between 1992 and 2007. Warne died in March when he was on a holiday in Thailand at the age of 52. Doctors determined the cause of death to be a heart attack.
