‘Breeders’ Episode 10 Preview: From reckoning to regrets, the series finale promises to be an emotional ride
FX recently tweeted about the finale of its latest comedy series, describing it as “one hell of a finale." If you go back to what happened in the previous episode, it makes complete sense why the upcoming episode could be monumental for the story.
The trailer of ‘No Cure Part 2’, as we see it, shows Luke (George Wakeman) being transferred to another hospital after his condition worsens. On the other hand, Ally (Daisy Haggard) and her boss, Darren, are back from Berlin only to find that Paul (Martin Freeman) is in an ambulance accompanying Luke as they take him elsewhere for better treatment. Ally breaks into tears and is not in control of her emotions. The preview also shows Paul regretting some of his actions as a parent, his behavior towards Luke, and things that he did but shouldn’t have done. He even promises himself to be a better father if Luke gets better. We also see him resorting to praying; something he doesn’t believe in and has never done. But of course, knowing Paul, his “god” per se is not the “god” the world believes in (many would agree that David Bowie is no less a god).

The final two episodes of this series have been quite intense, contrary to what we had expected of the show. While this might be a comedic take on the quirkiness of a dysfunctional family, it turned into an emotional journey for both Paul and Ally. And now the humor part of the story seems to have taken a backseat. However, we cannot ignore that there is a lot of satire and little moments when Paul tries to make the situation a little more bearable, even if it is dark enough.
The previous episode ‘No Cure Part 1’ turned out to be a transformational one for everyone. Paul’s father, Jim (Alun Armstrong) realizes what he lacked in his parenting, Paul contemplates on how he could have been a better father to Luke, and Ally understands that she can’t forgo her family and parental responsibilities for a promising job. However, while the changes in the characters are afoot, we also see how their relationships between each other have started to get more strained than ever.
Simply put, as the series finale draws near, we believe that all these emotional upheavals will come together and take us on an intense ride while they all wish and hope for Luke to get better.
