'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 5 promo hints at fallout between Jefferson and Jennifer Pierce over A.S.A. occupation

Jennifer and Jefferson are bound to end up having an argument that may lead to a full fight between the two.

The Pierce family is living in very troubling times at the moment and the hardships they face could potentially lead to the family itself becoming highly splintered. A recent promo clip for 'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 5 shows the crisis in occupied Freeland escalating to the point where Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and his daughter Jennifer Pierce/Lightning (China Anne McClain) are starting to realize they may be on opposite sides of this whole situation.

In the clip, Jefferson warns Jennifer not to find herself on the wrong side of history. Since they started their occupation of Freeland, the A.S.A. has committed countless human rights violations (among other crimes), justifying their atrocities with the excuse that they are "protecting" Freeland from a greater threat.

Agent Odell (Bill Duke) has managed to successfully brainwash Jennifer into being an A.S.A. loyalist, not with brain chips or mind control but old-school lying and manipulation. Of course, what Jennifer doesn't know is that Odell has turned her dead boyfriend into a living weapon and manipulated her mother Dr. Lynn Stewart (Christine Adams) into becoming a Green Light addict.

The way things are going, Jennifer and Jefferson are bound to end up having an argument, which may or may not lead to a full fight between the two. As tragic as it is to see a family broken apart like this, it's only to be expected considering the circumstances.

By the end of this season, we're sure Jennifer will see the error of her ways and mend fences with the rest of the family but at the moment, she's been far too strongly conditioned to see the A.S.A for what they truly are: an evil organization that couldn't care less about her or her family. Her support of these monsters, even when she can clearly see all the evil they are doing, can be infuriating but it's no different from the attitudes of millions of people like her around the world who would rather choose to believe their oppressors are their protectors than actually face the truth.

'Black Lightning' Season 3 Episode 5 will air on The CW on November 11.
