Black Lightning's new suit is closest the CW show has gotten to recreating Jefferson Pierce's iconic look from the comics

The new suit swaps out the glowing blue-and-yellow lightning bolts from the old outfit with plain gold ones and gives the whole suit a less armorlike look

'Black Lightning' Season 3 is going to see the titular hero Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning (Cress Williams) and his family facing fresh new challenges that are going to push them to their limits. Caught in the middle of a war between the A.S.A., a corrupt government organization, and the rogue nation of Markovia, Black Lightning will have to transform into something very different from the hero of the streets that he has been in the show's first two seasons. However, even with such major changes on the way for the show, the coolest new thing in the upcoming season has to be the brand new suit that Jefferson will be wearing as Black Lightning.

The new suit was revealed when the CW released the poster for the upcoming season. A leaked image that subsequently surfaced online gave us a closer look at the outfit and it is gorgeous. The new suit swaps the glowing blue-and-yellow lightning bolts from the old outfit with plain gold ones and gives the whole suit a less armorlike look, which is much closer to Black Lightning's comic book outfit.

With the new lightning bolts and more blue in the body of the suit, this is definitely the closest the show has come to recreating Black Lightning's look from the comics. While it does drastically change Jefferson's whole aesthetic, the sleeker look of the new suit is definitely more appealing than the chunky armor that the character has worn since the first season.

Jefferson isn't the only Pierce family member getting a wardrobe change though. It was recently revealed that this season his daughter Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams) would be taking up a new codename, Blackbird, and we're sure there's going to be a new suit to go with the new name. Anissa's outfit as Blackbird hasn't been revealed yet but we'll probably catch our first glimpse of the new identity in the first episode of 'Black Lightning' Season 3.

The 'Black Lightning' Season 3 premiere, titled 'The Book of Occupation: Chapter One: The Birth of Blackbird', will be airing on the CW on October 7.
