This article contains spoilers for 'Billions' Season 5 Episode 9: 'Implosion'

'Billions' Season 5 episode 9 gave us a lot to process. One was the obvious plot of Mike Prince (Corey Soll) getting back at Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and using Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) and Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) to aid him in bringing him down after his low blow. The other key storyline to pay attention to was the Wendy- Tanner breakup, and how Axe pockets the pencil sketch Tanner had made of Wendy. This only question is: Will he use this to get closer to Wendy, or will he use her as ammo to defend against the trio's attack?

His subtle advances towards her were seen over the course of the season. Talking about relationships, Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) was a crusader. Always. This is an absolutely focussed and brilliant woman who unfortunately was caught in the never-ending, vicious battle between Axe and her ex-husband, Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti). Loyalty has been her biggest asset and that may have put her ahead as far as the career trajectory goes, but it is evident she's compromised a lot personally when it came to relationships.

Bringing us to a topic that has been debated by fans for quite a while now. Axe and Wendy. Some love it, some hate it and some, well they just don't care. In focus are the naysayers who have every bit of a reason to back the theory that this is a relationship that's not good for the show. However, if we were to actually look at this from a character psyche level, there are more cons to it than hoping for a happily-ever-after story. Don't get us wrong, we're not against the two getting together, but looking at it from the current character situation, it just won't work.

However, this time, it might be different. Tanner's exit from her life might be the trigger that she needs for getting into a relationship with Axe, who has quite the family crisis himself. It would be a shame, but brilliantly criminal of him if he uses her as ammo, but that would be exactly what we can expect from a guy like Axe.

Only time will tell what lies ahead for the duo.
