'Wouldn't be the case if it was Nicholas': Cops slammed for 'sexist' remarks on Nicola Bulley's menopause
INSKIP, LANCASHIRE: Lancashire police have faced criticism ever since they issued a statement claiming that the vanished mother-of-two Nicola Bulley, had "some significant issues with alcohol brought on by her ongoing struggles with the menopause." The force committed a "dreadful error," according to former victims' commissioner Dame Vera Baird when it disclosed information about the missing mother's vulnerabilities on Wednesday, February 15.
However, the Lancashire constabulary was warned that its unusual release of the mother-of-two's personal and medical information could scuttle further inquiries, as per reports. The mother was reported to have previously struggled with alcohol use when she disappeared on January 27 while walking her dog along a towpath along the River Wyre in Lancashire, according to reports.

'This is the biggest error'
Baird told BBC Radio 4's 'Today' program that, "This is the biggest error that I have seen for quite a long time." He further added, "It's going to just, you know, very sadly, to undermine trust in the police yet further," as reported by DailyMail. He then stated, "It is a dreadful error to put this in the public domain for absolutely nothing and I'm afraid I think it's as sexist as it comes."
Baird went on and added, "Would we have had police officers saying, you know, if it was Nicholas, he's been unfortunately tied down with alcohol because he's been suffering from erectile dysfunction for the last few weeks? I think not. You can hear all the senior police officers squirming as I say it, I would have thought." This comes after Bulley's family provided more information about her health struggles in a new statement released by the police on Thursday, February 16. Additionally, they demanded an end to "speculation and rumors" regarding her personal life, as reported by Manchester News.
Nicola Bulley's family statement
The statement Bulley's family reads, "Due to the perimenopause, Nikki suffered with significant side effects such as brain fog, restless sleep and was taking HRT to help but this was giving her intense headaches which caused Nikki to stop taking the HRT thinking that may have helped her but only ended up causing this crisis. “The public focus has to be on finding her and not making up wild theories about her personal life," as reported by Telegraph.
