Beto O'Rourke slammed for telling BLM-organized NRA protest to 'get in the face' of Republicans
Beto O'Rourke, who is leaving no stone unturned to defeat Republican Greg Abbott to become the next Texas governor, held a protest outside National Rifle Association (NRA) convention on Friday, May 27, and delivered a plea for action days after 19 children and two adults were gunned by a teen shooter at a school in Uvalde, Texas. Hundreds of protesters angry about gun violence demonstrated outside, including some holding crosses with photos of the shooting victims.
The 49-year-old urged the protesters to break the opposition of Republicans to gun control by “getting in their faces before another child is shot in face.” O'Rourke’s furious protest comes two days after he was escorted from a press conference after he called out Governor Greg Abbott for “doing nothing” to prevent mass shootings like the latest at Robb Elementary School. The National Rifle Association kicked off the group’s annual convention in Houston on Friday, May 27, vigorously defending the rights of gun owners three days after the Uvalde school attack. O'Rourke addressed protesters from across the street from the NRA Convention. The event was attended by several activist groups, including Black Lives Matter Houston, Indivisible Houston, Moms Demand Action, Texas American Federation of Teachers and March for Our Lives.

Beto O'Rourke slammed for promoting violence
O'Rourke took a sly dig at the Republicans during his latest protest saying, “So I ask you for those of you in power and who hold office right now and were in the way and refuse to act: Please promise me you will get in their faces before another child is shot in their face.” He added, “The time for us to stop Uvalde was right after Sandy Hook,' referring to the “The time for us to stop Uvalde was right after Parkland.” He added, “The time for us to stop the valley it was right after Santa Fe High School” and continued, “The time for us to stop the next mass shooting in this country is right now right here today with every single one of us”, as reported by The Daily Mail.
Speaking of his recent interference at the press conference, O’Rourke yelled at Abbott saying, “The time to stop the next shooting is now and you’re doing nothing!” Don McLaughlin, the mayor of Uvalde, Texas, yelled back angrily at O’Rourke saying, “I can’t believe that you’re a sick son of a bi**h that would come to a deal like this to make a political issue”, as reported by The Texas Tribune. The Democrat also yelled that the shooting was something he thought could have been foreseen. He said, “You said this was not predictable. This was totally predictable when you choose not to do anything.”
‘He only cares about being Governor of Texas’
A few social media users dragged O'Rouke on Twitter over his protest outside the NRA convention. “America needs less Gym Jordan less Beto O'Rouke and more Abraham Lincolns. What we have now is the Ford theatre”, said one user as another shared, “The jerk who gave up any chance of winning a govt job ever. He should have just put a stake thru the heart & soul of the folks in Uvalde who were raw w/grief when Beto O'Rouke decided he would make it political & interrupted the press conference by Gov Abbott. BAD MOVE BETO.”
The next one tweeted, “Beto O’Rouke doesn’t care about the crime surge around this country, border, inflation, high gas prices, food shortages & baby formula shortages. He only cares about being Governor of Texas & he’s trying to use every opportunity to try to be Governor of Texas. Don’t be fooled.” And, one concluded, “What a POS Beto O'Rouke is... and, additionally, the entire philosophy and cult mentality of the left. The left on social media today are either bots or people that view the world so simplistically and ignorantly that they might as well be bots.”
