The Season 7 of ’Below Deck’ is drawing a lot of flak after the male crew members on the show have displayed signs of “toxic masculinity”. In one of the earlier episodes, we saw how the bosun, Ashton Pienaar, was overstepping his boundaries by touching women inappropriately without their consent. Later, in another episode, we saw Kevin picking up a fight with new deckhand, Rhylee Gerber, over a petty matter.

The previous episode saw Tanner discuss details of his night with Simone with his team without checking to see if she was okay with it. The latest episode, however, took the cake, when the lead deckhand, Brian, tells the cameras that the chief stew, Kate Chastain “needs to be put in her place”. Several fans couldn’t help but wonder what he meant by it. Considering in an earlier scene he called her a “b***h”. We later see Ashton getting all riled up against Kate without knowing all the details of what transpired between her and Brian.

Fans took to their social media to express their disappointment over the heavy presence of “toxic masculinity” on the show. A fan tweeted, “The guys on this crew are a rainbow of toxic masculinity 😷 #BelowDeck”.

Another fan wrote, “The toxic masculinity this season is off the charts! Sad these guys don’t see it. #BelowDeck”.

“#Belowdeck is the definition of toxic masculinity this season. Men, DON'T BE LIKE THESE BROS. Ugh”, expressed a fan.

“Would love to take courtney, simone, and of course queen kate out for a champagne + seafood extravaganza. the toxic masculinity this season is actually more infuriating than i could’ve imagined #belowdeck”, pointed out a fan.

‘Below Deck’ Season 7 airs every Monday at 9 pm ET/PT only on Bravo.
