'Batgirl' star Leslie Grace reveals the upgraded and armored 'batsuit' from the scrapped DC movie
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 2022 was a turbulent year for DC movies and we saw a lot of titles getting shelved. As soon as the new management entered, we saw a lot of changes in their strategies to take the DC Universe in the right direction. However, viewers were left stunned when the new merger of Warner Bros and Discovery led to the cancellation of several superhero movies, and the first major film to receive the unfortunate news was Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi’s ‘Batgirl’. The entire entertainment industry was shocked to learn that the movie has been shelved and will no longer be a part of DC’s upcoming calendar. Leslie Grace, who played the titular character, was heartbroken after the news surfaced online and shared an endearing note to the fans. The actor continues to share behind-the-scenes photos from the sets of the movie and even gives fans a look at a second bat suit that was specially made for the star.
Grace uploaded a reel on her official Instagram account and showed the world how amazing 2022 was for her. In the video, she included a lot of moments from her personal life as she celebrated all the special occasions with her family and friends. Apart from those moments, the actor also shared a lot of behind-the-scenes footage from the shelved ‘Batgirl’ movie and revealed what the Batgirl costume would have looked like in the movie.

The clip includes several quick shots of Grace on the set of the movie and donning the iconic costume. However, the footage also included a suit that was way different from the one that viewers saw in the film’s promotional still. While looking closely, we found that there were different versions of the costume in that video with one being closer to the modern look of the comic-book character. On the other hand, Grace can be seen hugging Brendan Fraser in one of the behind-the-scenes footage from the movie. Fraser and Grace both were wearing their respective costumes in the picture. Fraser was set to play the role of a supervillain named Firefly in the movie.
She captioned the video as, “Thank you for teaching me, 2022. You were singular in many ways that will stay with me. My gratitude and love for life is much deeper thanks to the experiences you brought me. I take your lessons with me as we part. Here's to many more stories to tell, memories to make, and love to give in 2023.”
This is not the first time Grace has shared footage from the ‘Batgirl’ set and opened up about the film’s cancellation.
El Arbi and Fallah were in Morocco for El Arbi’s wedding when WB decided to rock their world with such disastrous news. The duo released a statement on Instagram after the unfortunate event and noted that it was difficult to “believe” that their movie was shelved by Warner Bros. “We are saddened and shocked by the news. We still can't believe it. As directors, it is critical that our work be shown to audiences, and while the film was far from finished, we wish that fans all over the world would have had the opportunity to see and embrace the final film themselves. Maybe one day they will insha'Allah,” the filmmakers said.
Sadly, we will never be able to know anything further about the movie unless Warner Bros decides to move forward with the project. As of now, there seem to be no chances of that movie seeing the light again.
