Barbershop owner, 43, fatally shot in his own shop while cutting an eight-year-old's hair in Washington
PUYALLUP, WASHINGTON: A barbershop owner was fatally shot in his own shop while giving an eight-year-old child a haircut, on Wednesday, November 30.
The shooting reportedly took place just after 5.00 pm when an unidentified suspect entered the JQ Barber Shop on 112 East Stewart Avenue and shot the 43-year-old multiple times. According to ABC News, police said, "The business was occupied at the time of the incident by several individuals who are cooperating with the investigation. These individuals informed responding officers that the suspect entered the business and went directly to the booth where the victim was cutting an eight-year-old child’s hair. Per the witnesses, the suspect entered the booth and shot the victim multiple times.”

Authorities have not revealed the victim's name. Apart from the owner, the child, his mother, another customer and one other barber were reportedly present in the shop at the time of the shooting and no one else was harmed. “Upon their arrival, officers immediately requested the assistance of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue. Central Pierce Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene within moments of the request and determined that the individual was deceased,” police added.
As per ABC, Authorities launched an investigation to capture the suspect, who is reportedly said to be 5ft 8in tall, wearing black pants, a black jacket and possibly a mask. At this time, police believe this was a targeted shooting and preliminary information showed that nothing was stolen from the shop.
The investigation is currently being led by the Investigative Services Unit of the Puyallup Police Department. Authorities requesting anyone who works or lives in the vicinity of the shooting to check their security cameras for anyone matching the description of the suspect and to contact the Puyallup Police Department with any information regarding this case.
This icident comes on the heels of another incident wherein a 43-year-old man was shot and killed inside a barbershop in Boston. Police responded to Celebrity Cuts Barber Shop at 145 Washington St around 7.17 p.m. on October 28. Inside, they found 43-year-old Herman Maxwell Hylton of Roxbury, had been shot. Despite paramedics trying their best, he died at the scene. There has been a spate of shooting incidents in the Boston, prompting people to demand that leaders take some action.
