SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA: Republican Andy Biggs cracked a joke on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying "finding the hammer" days after her husband Paul Pelosi was attacked by a person holding a hammer. During his remarks in Scottsdale, Arizona Rep Biggs said, "We're going to show Nancy Pelosi the door very shortly. Don't let it hit you on the backside, Nancy. She's losing the gavel but finding the hammer. Too soon? Is that too soon? I didn't know. I just didn't know." Kyung Lah, a senior national correspondent for CNN, seems to have broken the remark on Twitter first, since then the video of Biggs making the joke about Pelosi and the hammer was posted by multiple users on social media.

Meanwhile, Biggs' joke alluded to a vicious assault that took place on Paul Pelosi, the husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on October 28. Paul Pelosi was hit with a hammer by an intruder who broke into the couple's San Francisco home, according to San Francisco Police, leaving him with a cracked skull and other wounds. Nancy Pelosi was reportedly in Washington, DC, at the time. The suspect, David DePape, 42, was meanwhile detained on allegations of attempted murder, elder abuse, and burglary.

Many social media users called Biggs out as a "disgusting person" for his remark. One person wrote, “What a disgusting person. Not to mention an instigator of a violent insurrection.” Someone wrote, “What a disgusting prick.” “I’m going to say this as politely as I can muster. People sometimes ask me how I feel about the current state of Arizona republicans. I dunno. You tell me. How should I feel about this?” another added. “Absolutely horrible people and it's laughed off,” another added.

Days before Biggs' joke, another Republican running for governor of Arizona, Kari Lake also highly criticized and joked about the attack on Paul Pelosi. Later when she was asked about her comment, according to Snopes.com, Lake remarked, “Go back and look at the video. A lot of creative editing was done, ok? And I think you all know it if you were there. They clipped that clip and made it look bad. And, listen, nobody's... I didn't attack anybody. I want to provide security for our children at schools, and that's what the question was about.”

“And the media is so desperately trying to bring this movement down, and all of the fake news that you guys have put out. Nothing can bring this movement down, and you guys are on your last gasps of air. The fake news media is going down. Nobody is listening to you anymore. And it's so funny to watch. It's really enjoyable to watch as the fake news media, pushing lies, peddling propaganda, is losing all of its power,” she added.
