Kelli Ward, the chairwoman of the Arizona Republican Party, may prove to be the key to unveiling a wealth of information concerning former President Donald Trump's alleged plot to rig the 2020 presidential election and retain power eternally, reported MSNBC.

Ward and her husband, Michael Ward, have repeatedly tried and failed to get the courts to protect them from the January 6 committee investigation into the Capitol attack and attempts to rig the 2020 election. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan offered the pair some momentary solace on Wednesday.

Kagan temporarily overturned a federal judge's ruling requiring the Wards to abide by a subpoena for phone records covering the period from November 2020 to January 2021 in response to an emergency motion they filed with the Supreme Court. The action is expected to grant the Wards a brief reprieve from congressional investigators until the Supreme Court ultimately decides whether they must comply.

Who is Kelli Ward's husband?

Kelli met her husband, Michael Ward, during medical school and they married in 1995. Michael Ward is an Emergency Medicine physician and is the founding partner of Arizona Emergency Medicine Specialists. He is a Colonel in the AZ Air National Guard and currently serves as Arizona’s State Air Surgeon.

Kelli and Michael each signed paperwork claiming they were electors in the Electoral College. Despite the fact that Joe Biden had won the state, they attempted to give Trump the state's electoral votes and allegedly submitted fictitious paperwork for Congress to certify on January 6. The committee, which claims Kelli Ward repeatedly used her Fifth Amendment right during questioning by the panel earlier this year, is extremely interested in the 'fake electors' conspiracy.

Kelli Ward has been fighting for months to prevent the committee from seeing her phone records, arguing that their alleged plot shouldn't fall under the committee's purview because it had nothing to do with the attack on January 6. They have argued that the committee's purpose is too broad and that she was acting within her First Amendment rights when she participated in the scheme.

However, her assertion that the bogus elector plot and the riot on January 6 were unrelated seems to be disproved by her own tweet. "Congress is adjourned. Send the elector choice back to the legislatures," she tweeted as protestors stormed the Capitol and urged Congress to send vote certification decisions back to the states (as Trump's campaign desired).

The claims of Ward's involvement in Trump's post-election plot are detailed in the committee's letter to Ward on January 6 asking for compliance with their probe.

She allegedly exerted pressure on Arizona election officials to cease counting votes as they were tallying the results, according to the panel. Messages she allegedly sent to a local election supervisor that were discovered by public records requests last summer lend credence to the allegation. On November 13, 2020, when it became evident Biden would win the state, Ward reportedly tried to arrange a call between Trump and the Arizona election supervisor.

The January 6 committee reportedly claimed to have recordings demonstrating Ward had direct conversations with Trump and his aides regarding "election certification issues in Arizona," potentially linking him to the scheme to have the results overturned. This indicates that the Wards' phone data may be utterly crucial to the case. Arizona was at the core of the conservative movement's efforts to reverse Trump's loss in the 2020 election, second only to Georgia. Unquestionably loud in repeating Trump's arguments, Kelli Ward assisted Arizona Republicans in raising a ton of money by doing so.
