LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande's new look is worrying her loved ones about her health, sources close to the pop star revealed after she addressed recent comments on her weight loss.

The 'Thank U, Next' hitmaker, 29, raised eyebrows when she and her 'Wicked' co-star Cynthia Erivo, 36, were snapped at a London concert by Jeff Goldblum, 70, last weekend. While the pop sensation rocked an oversized pink jacket and white high-heel boots, her fans realized she had lost a lot of weight. Grande has notably spent the past six months portraying her character Glinda in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, which is slated to hit the box office on December 25, 2024.

'She subsists on the bare minimum'

Speaking to Radar Online, a source close to Grande said the songstress "has been a vegan for years, and there's nothing wrong with that," but "she seems to have taken it to extremes." The insider added, "She subsists on the bare minimum — like smoothies, kale, seeds, nuts, broccoli, and tofu. It's gotten to the point where her shoulder blades are poking out. There's very little flesh on her figure." This comes after eyewitnesses noted how 'The Voice' coach looked emaciated while leaving a London jazz club.

Ariana Grande responds

Grande recently addressed the health concerns in a candid social media post. "I don't do this often. I don't like it, I'm not good at it," she told her fans on TikTok. "But I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body, and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to." She continued, "I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people's bodies — no matter what. Healthy, unhealthy, big, small, this, that, sexy, not sexy, I don't… We just shouldn't," adding, "We should really work towards not doing that as much."

'Healthy can look different'

The '7 Rings' hitmaker insisted there were "many different ways" to look healthy. “I know personally, for me, the body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,” Grande explained. “I was on a lot of antidepressants and drinking on them and eating poorly, and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my ‘healthy.’" She continued, “But that, in fact, wasn’t my ‘healthy.' I know I shouldn’t have to explain that. But I do feel like maybe having an openness and some sort of vulnerability here will be something, like, good might come from it.” She concluded that thought by declaring, “Healthy can look different.”

“The second thing is you never know what someone’s going through,” she noted. “So even if you are coming from a loving place and a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they are working on it with, and you never know, so be gentle with each other and with yourselves.” Grande was spotted earlier this week in full costume as Glinda the Good Witch for the first time, donning a sparkling pink gown with a glittering crown and wand to match. The pop star landed the coveted role over other actresses including Reneé Rapp, Taylor Louderman, Dove Cameron, and Amanda Seyfried, per Radar Online.
