AOC tests Covid positive just days after partying maskless at Miami drag bar

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has constantly and strongly advocated for mask and vaccine mandates

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has confirmed that she has tested positive for Covid-19, days after she was pictured partying maskless at a Miami drag brunch. The 32-year-old Bronx Representative made the announcement on her official Twitter page on Sunday night, December 9, sharing a statement that read, "Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19. She is experiencing symptoms and is recovering at home. The Congresswoman received her booster shot this Fall, and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow all CDC guidance."

In a separate tweet, AOC added some of her own guidance. It is unclear how or when she contracted the virus. AOC has constantly and strongly advocated for mask and vaccine mandates. However, during her trip to Miami, Florida, last week, she was spotted at various venues without a mask. AOC was pictured on January 2 with her pals at a drag brunch at the Palace Bar on Miami's South Beach. She was snapped along with 'Pose' star Billy Porter, maskless. 

A Twitter user had also shared a video of AOC without a mask. "EXPOSED: AOC is STILL lounging it up in Florida, in large crowds and maskless. This time at a Drag Queen bar in Miami. Rules for thee but not for me," the user had written.

Following the announcement of AOC having contracted the virus, social media users took to Twitter to slam for her failing to follow what she herself advocates. "Oh my gosh. If @aoc was a Republican every headline tomorrow would be: “Congresswoman Goes Maskless in Florida, Flaunts Social Distancing, Contracts Covid”," one user wrote. "AOC is positive for Covid after partying maskless in Florida. Maybe she should practice what she preaches. AOC is a hypocrite. Who Agrees?" another user wrote. "Condolences to poor AOC who tested positive for COVID during her Miami vacation. That karma. It’s a bish," another commented.

"What kind of “I almost died from Covid” story will AOC come up with, now that she has tested positive???" one user wrote, while another said, "Wishing the fully vaxxed and boosted @AOC a speedy recovery from COVID-19!
