NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A new video from 2019 has emerged where the newly-elected New York congressman George Santos can be seen referring to himself as Anthony Devolder. At a 2019 Walk Away LGBT event, Santos stands up during a Q&A session and says, "My name is Anthony Devolder, and I am a New York City resident. I have recently founded a group called United for Trump." He has also been accused of faking his entire resume and educational accolades. 

During his unsuccessful 2020 campaign to unseat Democrat Tom Suozzi, the 34-year-old Republican referred to himself as George Santos and the host, who was taken aback, says, "Folks, another important speaker, another congressional nominee - George Santos. George, who we know is a friend - he's known as Anthony Devolder to me. So I don't know where George Santos came into the thing, but that's what it says here," as reported by Daily Mail. The 2019 video is shared by 'Patriot Takes' on Twitter saying, "In 2019, George Santos introduced himself as Anthony Devolder, the founder of “United for Trump,” during a Q & A session at a “Walk Away LGBT” event in NYC. Santos said trans people could benefit from a trans conservative activist educating them."

Leaders of the Nassau County Republican Party have also called for Santos' resignation. Chairman Joseph G Cairo said at a news conference on Long Island, "Today, on behalf of the Nassau County Republican Committee, I’m calling for his immediate resignation. He deceived voters. His lies were not mere fibs. He disgraced the House of Representatives. … He’s not welcome here at Republican headquarters," as reported by CNN.

Who is Anthony Devolder?

George Santos, whose full name is George Anthony Devolder Santos, is the United States representative for New York's third congressional district, covering part of northern Nassau County on Long Island and northeast Queens. He's a member of the Republican Party and was elected to the open seat in 2022. He most recently worked for a Florida-based alternative investment firm which was later accused of a Ponzi scheme. 

Six weeks after his election, he was exposed by the media for fabricating his self-published biography in which he altered his ancestry, education, employment, charity work, and property ownership. Santos has admitted to lying and as of January 2023, is under investigation. In 2008, Santos confessed to 'check fraud' charges in Brazil. However, he failed to appear in court, leaving the case unresolved.

One user said, "If George Santos or Anthony Devolder cannot be trusted to tell the truth about his name, he cannot be trusted to serve in the United States Congress. RESIGN." Another person wrote, "George Santos also goes by: George Devolder Anthony Santos Anthony Devolder Andres dos Santos Anthony Zabrovsky His birthplace has yet to be verified and he’s wanted in Brazil for check fraud Has anyone actually verified that George, Anthony or Andres is an American citizen?!" One more person said, "Dude’s just got a validation kink. He’ll be anyone the person he’s talking to wants him to be. He’s got no personality of his own, he just copies whoever he’s around."

A person tweeted, "WTF is Anthony Devolder? This is a alias Santos used in 2019 saying he was the founder of United for Trump. Who wants to see George Anthony Devolder Santos or WTF his name is birth certificate?" Another person wrote, "If you want to see George Santos turn pale, if ANY of my Twitter family gets the chance to question him, ask him this: "Who is Anthony Devolder?" THIS is the name he called HIMSELF while asking a question to someone on a speaking forum! Can't WAIT to see that shade of green!" One more person said, "Continually finding more information every day to believe there is something very wrong with George Santos/Anthony Devolder/Anthony Zabrovsky"
