The sequence of trauma started in Heche’s life when her elder sister Cynthia, died from a heart defect at two months old. And from there life slowly went from bad to worse. Filled with secrets, her family constantly moved to several cities as their father struggled to provide for them. Heche, who was born in Ohio, moved with her family from Ohio to New Jersey before finally settling down in Chicago during her adolescence.

Who was Anne Heche’s father?

In past, Heche has always been vocal about her relationship with her father and the wrongdoings he did with her. Her father, Donald Heche became one of the initial people in the United States to be diagnosed with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The Diagnosis not just stunned Heche’s family but even disclosed the truth of the Baptist minister and choir director living a secret homosexual life.

According to the actress, Donald never admitted to being gay. He died from the disease at the age of 45. Later that same year, Anne’s brother lost his life in a car crash, which she believes was a suicide.

Heche talked about her trauma in her 2001 memoir, 'Call Me Crazy,' in which she disclosed that her sexual addict father was a closet homosexual who not just molested her but also gave her genital herpes. "He raped me... he fondled me, he put me on all fours and had sex with me," she wrote.

"I think my father was a sexual addict. I think he saw everybody as a sexual being. But I think at that time he was living a very flamboyant homosexual lifestyle," she told Larry King in a 2001 interview. "You know, at that time there were bath houses where the whole trick was how many can you do a night. You know, there is no question of what he was doing at that time," she continued.

While appearing as a guest on Hollywood medium, Heche revealed that the death of her father and brother, Nathan was the reason why her mother moved the family from New Jersey to Chicago. Anne’s sister Susan Bergman her memoir in 1994 titled 'Anonymity' in which she talked about their childhood struggles and homosexual dad. She continued: "We lived in a one-room apartment. My mom tried to keep it together, but at night she would break down. I didn't cry about their deaths until five years later when I moved out."

Years ago, the actress was taken into custody in Fresno, California for snuggling into a private property in just her underwear and talking to a child about taking him to heaven in her spaceship. She told the advocate: "I knew that I was sane. But I needed to go to a psychiatrist and a doctor and make my friends feel safe that I was sane." She revealed that in order to cope with her alleged childhood abuse, she developed an alter-ego named Celestia. She told Barbara Walters in an interview about the persona saying: "I believed that I was from another planet. I think I was insane."
