ROTZO, ITALY: A 30-year-old Italian guy died after falling down around 650 feet from a ledge while attempting to retrieve a lost mobile phone. According to reports, the man, Andrea Mazzetto, and his girlfriend, Sara Bragante, took a picture against beautiful scenic mountains just seconds before the tragedy took place.

The photo was taken on Saturday, August 20, by Mazzetto and Bragante, as they were exploring Altar Knotto which is a boulder near the city of Rotzo, called so since it resembles an altar. One of the pair accidentally dropped a cellphone, and in an effort to find it, Mazzetto eventually fell to his death, according to Corriere del Veneto, who estimated the drop to be roughly 650 feet. He was declared dead on the spot after emergency workers arrived in a helicopter at the accident scene.

Prior to that, Mazzetto, who was a building contractor, regularly briefed his 2,500+ followers on Instagram on his hikes with his girlfriend. Bragante subsequently uploaded the photograph that the two of them captured just before Mazzetto dropped to his death. She captioned the picture, “Our cursed last photo together. You will always be with me, my little bear."

The authorities later revealed to the local press that Mazzetto's personal cellphone had fallen down the rocks, contrary to original allegations that he was attempting to retrieve his girlfriend's phone. According to the local press, the Italian guy will be buried on Wednesday, August 24.

A similar incident took place in Shanxi, China earlier this month where a lady was captured falling to her death while using a zipline platform to take pictures. The woman was standing on a landing pad at a beautiful location close to the city of Fenyang when the disaster happened. A surveillance camera captured the woman snapping pictures of someone ascending the wires above the zipline at the incident's tragic time.

The woman briefly held onto the ledge before losing control and falling farther. She was discovered dangling from a shrub a few feet from the ground, according to local media. Emergency rescue workers had to use a tour bus to lower her. She suffered several wounds and subsequently passed away in Fenyang Hospital.
