Amy Anderson's mom and family made multiple calls to police dept hours before she fatally shot two cops
OCEAN SPRINGS, MISSISSIPPI: The family of a 43-year-old Ocean Springs resident who fatally shot two cops, reportedly made multiple calls to the Ocean Springs Police Department. Amy Brogdon Anderson, a vet, killed officers, Brandon Estorffe and Steven Robin, when they responded to a call for a welfare check from the motel she checked into. The incident took place after Anderson believed she was being followed by a white truck and subsequently asked the motel clerk to call 911.
New details related to the case are now emerging according to the reports of WLOX. Anderson's family was reportedly worried about her and the children. The Ocean Springs police records show four calls were made on December 13 and December 14. Three of those calls were made only a few hours before the fatal shooting. The mother reportedly told police that Anderson was “out of control” and that she believed Anderson was “under the influence of narcotics.” She also informed the police that the veterinarian had a firearm inside the home with her children. Police said that after a few hours Anderson showed up at the police department where she alleged that a man was harassing her. No other details were provided by the records.
Just four hours before the shootout with police in the early morning on December 14, a family member called the police and said Anderson was “wandering about [the] house convinced the mafia changed her locks.” Police said that officers found no one when they arrived at her home a while later. Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said Anderson had left and checked into the Bay St Louis Motel 6.
Anderson asked the front desk manager of the motel to call 911 around 3.55 am, say the authorities. Police said Sgt Steven Robin and Officer Brandon Estorffe arrived at the motel just minutes later and met her in her room. Anderson’s 8-year-old daughter was also in the room along with their three dogs. According to the officials, Anderson believed she was being followed by a white truck.
The conversation which continued for almost an hour turned out to be deadly as Anderson shot and killed Robin. Estorffe fired two shots in response, but Anderson also fired. Estorffe was struck in the arm and head, and Anderson took a fatal shot in the chest. Anderson’s family members made another call to the police department after the news of the shooting broke to ask for another welfare check on Anderson and her daughter. However, there was no one at the home.
