Matt Gaetz's son Nestor Galban mocked after ally Joel Greenberg says he paid minor for sex: 'Needs new daddy'
Matt Gaetz and his son Nestor Galban have become easy targets on social media. This was after Joel Greenberg, an associate of Galban, admitted to paying for sex with a minor and agreed to cooperate with investigators on Friday, May 14.
Court papers revealed how Greenberg, a former tax collector in Florida, said he and unidentified others had paid a 17-year-old girl for sex and that he provided the girl with drugs, The Guardian reported.

Greenberg, 37, is expected to plead guilty to federal charges related to his alleged sex crimes in an Orlando court on Monday, May 17, in addition to his financial crimes. According to the paper, Greenberg could be a "pivotal witness" if prosecutors decided to charge 39-year-old Gaetz for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old.
The New York Times cited an unverified, anonymous source who claimed that Greenberg had told investigators Gaetz had sex with the girl and knew she was being paid. The Florida congressman, one of former President Donald J Trump's most ardent supporters, has vehemently denied the allegations and declared he will not resign his seat in Congress.
Court documents show that Greenberg admitted to recruiting women for commercial sex acts between 2016 and 2018, reportedly paying them more than $70,000. The former tax collector also admitted to providing drugs to a minor and introducing her to “other adult men, who engaged in commercial sex acts."
Prosecutors have been examining whether Gaetz was involved when Greenberg paid underage girls or showered them with gifts in exchange for sex. It's worth noting that the plea agreement makes no mention of Gaetz. Nonetheless, liberals on social media tore into Gaetz and his son Nestor, 19, after the news broke.
"Nestor needs to look for a new daddy," writer Tony Posnanski tweeted. "My guess is that there are Central Florida Republican men soiling their drawers right now" another Twitter user added. "What did Nestor know and when did he know it. Resign #MattGaetz," left-wing activist Chris Hahn wrote.

The relationship between Nestor Galban and Gaetz isn't exactly clear. In a 2020 interview with People, Gaetz said Nestor came to the US (legally, though he declined to go into details) as a 12-year-old after his mother died of breast cancer. "Our relationship as a family is defined by our love for each other, not by any paperwork," he told People, ruling out formally adopting him. However, the two live together in Florida as father and son.
Ever since he went public with Nestor's presence in his life, Gaetz has often described him as "my son in every conceivable way, and I can’t imagine loving him anymore if he was my own flesh and blood.” Since Gaetz has declined to provide further details, there are still a lot of gaps. We don't know how Nestor came to the US, and how he was allowed to enter the country without being adopted.
There have also been significant disparities in the way Nestor has been referred to in Gaetz's public profiles. On Gaetz's personal accounts, Nestor is called a son, but on Gaetz's Congressional office account he is described as a "remarkable young man" and "part of my family story."
