'America's Got Talent': Benicio Bryant risks it all by performing an original song, but it could be enough to win him the Golden Buzzer
This season on 'America's Got Talent' the teens and pre-teens are taking over the competition, proving that talent comes in all shapes and sizes.
AGT season 14 is currently on its Judge Cuts and has all of us hooked to it, waiting in anticipation to see which act makes it through to the live quarter-finals. This week, America's Got Talent returns for the fourth round of Judge Cuts and joining the judges - Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union, Howie Mandel - as a guest judge is none other than comedian, actor, writer, producer, and television host Jay Leno.

While we are excited to see which 18 acts are going to perform on Tuesday night, AGT shared a sneak peek of Benicio Bryant performing and this time for his Judge Cuts performance, the 14-year-old singer and guitarist took a massive risk and sang an original song. During his audition, Bryant stunned the judges with his version of 'The Joke' by Brandi Carlile. His voice was so powerful that he received a standing ovation from all four judges after his performance. Cowell compared him to former One Direction member, Harry Styles' audition for the UK's 'The X Factor'.
Back again this week to perform in the Judge Cuts round, hoping to make it through to the live shows, Bryant decided to take a risk and perform his first-ever original song on the show. Entering onto the stage, Bryant was clearly nervous. After seeing him, Hough and Mandel gushed about how excited they are to see him again and can't wait for him to perform. “I have not stopped thinking about you since the first audition, because you blew me away. I gotta say, it’s a lot of pressure now, because I love you so much," Hough said.
Taking to the stage, Bryant started with his original song. It was emotional and raw. Titled “Here Goes Nothing,” he sang the song, accompanied by nothing but his guitar. Apart from being quite an emotional song, his range was impeccable. He hit all the right notes and his pitch was unfaltering. The judges were clearly hooked to his performance, and that includes Cowell who couldn't take his eyes from off the young singer.
Guest judge, Leno was equally into his performance. After Bryant was done performing, he received a standing ovation from all five judges and the audience. It was undoubtedly a better performance than his audition.
Bryant's choice to sing an original song during the Judge Cuts might have been a good decision not just because it takes him one step closer to securing a spot in the live shows, but because it is a known fact that young songwriters seem to be of interest and have quite a success story on the series. We can even take Sophie Pecora as an example. She won the Golden Buzzer from Brad Paisley after she sang an original song.
However, this is no confirmation that he might get a Golden Buzzer with his performance, but it is sure is great enough to get him a spot in the live quarter-finals. After looking at the sneak peek of his performance, fans shared their love for the young singer stating that he does have what it takes to get him a spot in the next round.
"Can't wait. Hope he makes it through. So far it hasn't been good for MORE talented young performers this year who DESERVED to make it through #AGT," wrote a fan on Twitter.
Adding to that another fan said, "L(O)VE you @BenicioBryant your voice is Amazing and I know you got this! Knock em' dead!" While a fan said, "You Did Not disappoint! This guy is gonna win!"
To see if Bryant made it to the live shows or not, we will have to wait till Tuesday night when 'America's Got Talent' season 14 returns on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
