Illinois' Justin Jesso was the first man up to perform on Week 5, the last week of live qualifiers on 'American Song Contest'. The singer crooned 'Lifeline', and although there was a lot of encouragement from hosts Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson, reactions to the singer's performance were scanty on social media.

The contestants for Week 5 after a stellar previous week include — Tenelle (American Samoa), Sweet Taboo (California), Jason J (Guam), Andrew Sheppard (Idaho), HALIE (Missouri), Sisqo (Maryland), Josh Panda (Vermont) , Khalisol (New Mexico), John Morgan (North Carolina), and Ada LeAnn (Michigan).

"Justin Jesso stuck with that note. He really showed his conviction as a performer tonight. It was strong performance with so many ups and downs, so many eventful moments. #AmericanSongContest," one of the fans wrote. "There's a LOT going on in this performance and somehow Justin Jesso manages to tie it all together. #AmericanSongContest," one of the fans remarked. "First, representing the Windy City, is Justin Jesso and his song “Lifeline”. Technically he is representing the state of Illinois, but the state is essentially 95% Chicago. #AmericanSongContest," a tweet read.

"This is by far, the toughest heat to predict. I believe Justin Jesso will undeservedly win the jury. The other 3 qualifiers might be: ⁃Sisqo (Maryland) ⁃Andrew Sheppard (Idaho) ⁃John Morgan (North Carolina) #AmericanSongContest," a fan remarked. "Justin is giving us a decent vocal delivery. And the staging for “Lifeline” is quite dynamic. Those high notes #AmericanSongContest," a tweet read.
