FORREST CITY, ARKANSAS: 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Justice Murphy delivered a standout performance singing 'Summertime' by Fantasia, showcasing her remarkable talent. Confidently entering the audition room, she introduced herself, mentioning that she attended Alabama State University and was raised in a church.

However, after she cheered her school's football team 'go hornets', ABC show judge, Katy Perry shouted 'Roll Tide'. Notably, both Hornets and Roll Tide are opponents. Meanwhile, Lionel Richie exclaimed, "I'm so loving this becasue this is right down the street from my house."

Katy received trolls from the ABC show viewers after she referenced to 'wrong' school. A social media user tweeted, "Tell Katie, Alabama State University and The University of Alabama are way different🤣🤣🤣🤣. " Another person added, "Katy Perry saying roll tide 😂 wrong school But Roll Tide and ASU Go Hornets."

Another internet user penned, "When Justice said she was a student at Alabama State did Katy Perry say “Roll Tide” 😂😅." Another X user said, "Did Katy say roll tide earlier? 😭😂

Another Instagram user commented, "No ma’am!!! that is not the Roll tide no no no… The University of Alabama love, not Alabama state……ROLL TIDE ROLL 🐘🐘🐘🐘 put some respect on the Crimson.. #bama #rolltide 👀 thanks lol get it right!!" 'American Idol' Season 22 contestant Justice Murphy received a golden ticket to Hollywood for her performance on Fantasia's version of 'Summertime' with an addition of her notes. Justice impressed all three ABC show judges, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie with her vocals.

Katy claimed to see a 'star personality' from the server, complimenting the contestant's range but criticized her 'jazz hands.' Despite this, Katy acknowledged that Justice possessed all the 'fundamental things' necessary for an aspiring singer. 

Meanwhile, Luke Bryan expressed his admiration and claimed that she set off all of the right emotions for what they were looking for on 'American Idol.'

Lionel Richie praised Justice for her poised and confident presence during her performance. Aligning with his fellow judges, he suggested that she could dial back on the runs. Lionel acknowledged that Justice brought her unique artistry and sound to the song.

After she received the golden ticket, Justice took to her Instagram and expressed her excitement. She shared a photo with the ticket and wrote, "I’m going to Hollywood!!! I got the GOLDEN TICKET!! Thank you for tuning in!🫶🏾."

'American Idol' Season 22 Justice Murphy claimed to be a daddy's girl and a 'generation curse breaker'. She reflected on her family's struggles in a social media post with a throwback video of herself. Alongside the video, she explained, "I have beat every generation curse in my family on BOTH SIDES."

She elaborated, "Daddy look at your baby girl I was okay after all my mom did so amazing with me. I never imagined seeing someone take their last breath and it be a piece of me. I didn’t give up I kept pushing. You’re so proud wow. The tears I’ve had since 5 AM because I hear you so loud today. You died for me."

The aspiring singer showed gratitude to Mrs Dorothy who believed in her and recorded "every single program when my mom and daddy couldn’t make it." She further revealed, "I am a 22 year old girl from a proverty neighborhood a small town and a loving family."

'American Idol' Season 22 premieres every Sunday at 8 pm ET on ABC.
