'By the Grace of God'
The judges on 'American Idol' were previously accused of lavishing praise on Haven, a 17-year-old vocalist, for her performances. In a previous episode, Haven sang Bon Jovi's 'Livin' on a Prayer' during this season's first live concert. The judges were taken aback, and she stayed safe while Lucy Love and Nutsa were eliminated.
"Well, you done traded in your Flintstones vitamins for some confidence vitamins," Katy said to the singer. “I don't know who you are but I'm nervous, I have sweaty palms, I'm like excited, I'm threatened. That's all great things. You're the next big pop star as far as this performance.” Haven was dubbed a "massive star" by Katy's co-stars Lionel and Luke, but the show's audience was unimpressed.
During the May 21 episode of the show's finale, Haven sang her song 'Still Need You', then Katy joined her to sing 'By the Grace of God'. As the song came to an end, they exchanged looks before holding hands.
'So upset that Katy is performing with Haven'
Following the performance, fans came up with their wild theory. On Reddit, one fan wrote, "Lmao not Katy choosing to duet with someone she knows she can blow out the water." Another chimed in, "Katy is going to murder Haven." One wrote, "Katy can’t hide her bias lol." While some felt, "I am so upset that Katy is performing with Haven. She is going to embarrass her."
On Twitter, reacting to the performance, one tweeted, "Listening to Katy sing and talk is painful." Another mocked her as they write, "Was that Katy being "deep".. "
