‘American Idol' Season 20: Who is Camryn Champion? Teen singer is also a sports enthusiast
The premiere episode of ‘American Idol’ Season 20 premiered on ABC on Sunday, February 27, returning to the network for the fifth year. A few of the contestants easily managed to impress the judges namely Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and singer-songwriter Lionel Richie. Ryan Seacrest was again given the responsibility of hosting the show, the only original alum left on the show from Season 1.
Singers like Grace Franklin, Maddie Glidewell, Nicolina, Danielle Finn, Delaney Renee, and Huntergirl among others showed their powerful singing skills on the show. Apart from these, a 16-year-old crooner named Camryn Champion too showed up for the auditions in the premiere episode. The young talent performed ‘I'm Not The Only One’ by Sam Smith that got the judges talking. Whilst the judges thought Camryn could still improve, they eventually gave her the coveted golden ticket. Lionel even took to Twitter and stated, “Working with contestants like Camryn and @daniellefinn, are what I love most about #AmericanIdol”

Who is Camryn Champion?
Camryn Champion is a teen singer who hails from New Jersey. Apart from singing, she is also a sports enthusiast. She loves playing volleyball for her high school, Rancocas Valley. She also sang the National Anthem at one of her games, as revealed by her social media profiles. On Instagram, she enjoys a little more than 1,000 followers and is also active on TikTok. Camryn Champion shot to fame when her cover of ‘Traitor’ by Olivia Rodrigo got viral on TikTok. Billie Eilish and Olivia seems to be her favorite artists. Camryn seems to be well-traveled, thanks to her family’s military background. She has apparently lived in Japan, New York, and California.
The auditions for the new season were held in Los Angeles, Austin, and Nashville. Online auditions too happened with virtual sessions. While the format of the show will remain the same, a new platinum ticket has been introduced that would allow the holders to skip the first day of Hollywood Week.
