Who is Delaney Renee Wilson?
Delaney Renee Wilson will be one of the contestants seen in the auditions of ‘American Idol’ Season 20. The young and skilled crooner is 18 years old who hails from Massachusetts. She is the daughter of a musician and has been singing since she was 6 years old. The teen singer enjoys close to 30K followers on Instagram and over 280K followers on TikTok and it only happened after she got viral for singing ‘Part of Your World’ from The Little Mermaid on TikTok. Delaney’s video broke the Internet and it has been viewed over 12 million times. She soon got the nickname of ‘The Singing Babysitter’.
The video was shot by her boss Nicki Maher, who is a Somerset, Massachusetts-based entrepreneur and a mother. According to Herald News, Maher said, “When I gave her permission to post that video, it really changed my perspective. It was nothing but love” adding, “It’s just amazing what happened from one viral video. It’s such an incredible opportunity for her,” she said. Delaney Renee, interestingly, got admission in her favorite music school- Berklee College of Music. Speaking on her video getting viral, she said, “I was a little more shy when it came to posting things on the internet and after that, it just spiraled. I'm like all over the place about it because it was so crazy”, as reported by WCVB. Shedding light on auditioning for ‘American Idol’ 20, she told Herald News, “American Idol has always been a big part of my family since I was little. It was definitely always one of my goals, one of my big, big goals in life.”
When will ‘American Idol’ 20 air?
The 20th season of ‘American Idol’ is all set to debut on Sunday, February 27. The show is expected to hit the ABC Network with 18 episodes and might wrap up in late May. The auditions for the new season were held in Los Angeles, Austin, and Nashville. Online auditions too happened with virtual sessions. While the format of the show will remain the same, a new platinum ticket has been introduced that would allow the holders to skip the first day of Hollywood Week.
