Johnny Depp fans get #AmberHeardIsALiar trending after actress CHANGES testimony mid-trial
Actress Amber Heard returned to the stand on Monday, May 16, after a week-long gap in the high-profile defamation action launched by her ex-husband Johnny Depp. The court was last in session on May 5 with Heard recounting the alleged acts of domestic abuse against her by ex-husband Johnny Depp. The 36-year-old actress took that stand again on Monday, this time to be cross-examined by Johnny Depp's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft. Fans on social media, however, slammed Heard for altering her statements mid-trial.
Depp's first act of violence against Heard, as per her earlier statement, occurred in early 2012. However, in her most recent testimony, she said that Depp began beating her "around early 2013." She said she had supplied an incorrect date for Depp's first aggressive assault. Heard added that the police came to their house several times throughout their relationship and that they discussed her therapist files to see if there were any instances of physical abuse. When asked why she did not remember these specific episodes, she explained that their relationship was "violent" and "chaotic," as well as "loving" and "emotional," and that the "violence was almost normal." Throughout their relationship, she claimed to have dealt with many different versions of Depp, and the two created a safe word amid fights: "couch." She stated that divorce was constantly mentioned in their relationship.

An enraged Twitter user wrote, "You can tell Amber Heard has never experienced domestic violence, just by her ‘testimony’ alone. Its insulting that she, her team and the likes of @ACLU /@LOrealParisUK expect real survivors to believe her & have her ‘represent’ us. Give it up ffs #AmberHeardIsALiar"

Another one wrote, "Amber Heard has opened her testimony, after a week off, by completely changing and embellishing stories based on evidence the public has posted to refute her claims. She shouldn’t have even spoken to anyone about this case The jury HAVE to be seeing this, it is ridiculous."

The jury HAVE to be seeing this, it is ridiculous.
When Bredehoft asked Amber Heard why she applied for a temporary restraining order during the trial, the actress stated wanted to "change my locks" in order to have a "good night's sleep." She testified, “Security would always let him into the house no matter what I asked them, but I begged them to let me know when he was coming over, no matter how much I begged them not to let him in when he was mad or drunk or high. And I couldn’t sleep. I’d wake up in a panic. I was losing hair. I was losing weight. I got really sick."
Heard also claimed that she was "falling apart" and experiencing panic attacks all the time. The 'Aquaman' actress admitted that she was "very conflicted" since she was "in love" with Depp while simultaneously being afraid of him, "which was tricky." To which a Twitter user responded, "#AmberHeard doing a peekaboo at the jury as if we do not see everything and then the next second back down as if what she is hearing is so painful. Y'all, I can't. #JohnnyDeppvAmberHeard"

Depp sued Heard in 2019 after she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse in an op-ed piece for The Washington Post in 2018. Although she did not specifically mention the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star, his attorneys contend that Heard was referring to him and requested money recompense in exchange for damaging his professional career.
