Alex Beresford takes Piers Morgan's seat on 'GMB' as views keep dropping, Internet says 'can't watch Alex'

'Good Morning Britain' saw Alex Beresford take the presenter's chair, but many on the Internet were not happy to see him on Piers Morgan's chair

Alex Beresford, on Friday, March 26, joined Kate Garraway on the presenter's chair that was earlier occupied by Piers Morgan, and fans on social media are not happy about the change. This comes just weeks after his on-air argument with Piers Morgan regarding Meghan Markle's claims on Oprah Winfrey's interview. The argument had ended with Morgan storming off the show and later quitting the show as well.

Until now, Beresford was presenting the weather on 'Good Morning Britain'. According to the viewership ratings reported by Daily Mail, on Thursday, the show drew in viewership of 840,000. This happens to be a huge drop from the 1.29 million who tuned in on Morgan's last day. Going by this, it has been observed that nearly half a million people have deserted the show.

In comparison, 'BBC Breakfast' drew a viewership of 1.53 million on the same morning. Ben Shephard's appearance alongside Susanna Reid, however, invited more viewers in the week on Tuesday, March 23 when the viewership went up to 1.1 million. The next day, the viewership again dropped, and this time by 100,000. As of now, the viewership ratings are not available for Alex Beresford's first day as the main presenter. The show, however, drew a lot of ire online.

One user tweeted, "All a very successful and brilliantly covert operation marketing tool by #gmb #alexberesford and #piersmorgan to promote a flagging breakfast show where @susannareid100 has literally been told to button up and Mr Morgan stormed out using #itv to sell #GBNews for @afneil." Another wrote, "I was the opposite when i turned on my T.V this morning ....i just couldn't watch #alexberesford. Bring back #piersmorgan."

On sarcastic user wrote, "The Weatherman and The Snowflake sounds like a childrens' book #alexberesford #piersmorgan." Another user commented, "#piersmorgan #susannareid #benshepherd you was forced out deliberately piers and Kate says it's lovely working with him ...."

One user wrote, "Always sad to see throughout history, the legacy of good men being destroyed by self serving and controlling women. #HarryandMeghan #MeganMarkle #Oprah@piersmorgan #Feminism #Selfrespect #piersmorgan." Another observed, "Yes it was @alexberesfordTV who was all so smart when having a spat with #piersmorgan but shown up as a prat when given the centre stage on @GMB yet another anglocentric fool spouting nonsense."

There was also some support for Beresford, but it was few and far in between. One supporter tweeted, "#piersmorgan Piers always called out the government held them accountable on corvid and certain people. Even mock Boris Johnson for running into a fridge. Alex did the same holding him accountable on bullying and belittling of Megan. If you can't take it you shouldn't dish out."

Another wrote, "The racists are out in full force today after seeing #AlexBeresford sitting where butthurt #PiersMorgan once sat. Typical behaviour their fingers working overtime, expressing their dislike for someone who put a racist bully in his place. #GMB."
