Like Meghan Markle, Alex Beresford was asked about his kid's color: 'Are you worried about the shade of cocoa?'
Alex Beresford took over the headlines when he stood up to Piers Morgan on their show 'Good Morning Britain' after the latter slammed Meghan Markle following her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Beresford ended up being the reason why of storming off the show. Morgan had said that he "didn't believe a word" when Markle claimed that she had felt suicidal when she was pregnant with Archie.
Beresford had questioned Morgan about the remarks leading to Morgan storming off the show and later quitting as well. It has been revealed that Beresford had received similar questions to that of Markle who had claimed that the royal family had questions about what the skin color of her child would be. He said, "I've walked into institutions as the only person of colour and experienced covert and overt racism in so many occasions," and added, "Why the Meghan interview really resonates with me is because an ex-work colleague — not of this show — asked me if I was worried the shade of cocoa my son was going to come out."

Beresford also added, "When you're mixed race what you find, in my personal experience, is that when you're a lighter shade of black, people gain confidence and think they can say things to do that they wouldn't say to a Black person".
According to a report in Mirror, Beresford was quoted as saying to singer Sheila Ferguson, "I think there are some parallels in my upbringing, being the only person of color at university, having to find your way," and added, "Being one of the only people of colour walking into a newsroom as well."
Before Morgan had walked off the show, Beresford had called Morgan out about his comment and said, "I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle, you've made it so clear a number of times on this programme..." He then said, "And I understand you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off. She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has but yet you continue to trash her..."
In response to this, Morgan said, "OK, I'm done with this" and as he walked off the set, he said, "Sorry, no... sorry, can't do this..." Despite Morgan's actions, Beresford did not let him off and said, "Do you know what? That's pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour."
According to a report in Deadline, ITV boss Kevin Lygo had forced Morgan to quit. The source was quoted as saying, "He was definitely pushed. Pushed in that Kevin agreed he should go. Quite a few people in that studio didn’t like Piers." It was reported that Meghan Markle had officially complained to ITV before Morgan's position had been made public.
Despite the controversy, Morgan may find himself employed at GB News, a TV channel launching this year. Chairman Andrew Neil told BBC Radio 4 he did think that Morgan was “hard to control” and had “crossed the line” with ITV, but he had helped Good Morning Britain challenge BBC Breakfast’s ratings. He confessed, "I think Piers Morgan would be a great asset to GB News and we’ll certainly talk to him about it."
He also added, "I wouldn’t simply transfer what he did at GMB straight to GB News. We’d love to talk to Piers about this, but I think we’d want to do things in a bit of a different way.”
