SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA: Around 8.pm Tuesday, a shooting at nearby Bill Cockrell Metro Park in Shreveport, Louisiana, killed 10-month-old Lillian Rose Marter and 2-year-old Ronnie Marter. According to police, an argument broke out in the mobile home between a man and a woman," The Sun reports. The man, 25-year-old Anthony P Smith forced the two children from the Huntington Mobile Home Park on Klug Pines Road into a nearby park injuring their mother during the attack, KLFY reports. There, he shot the two before turning the gun on himself. Police reported discovering a man with a baby under the age of one dead in a car at the scene, while a second child was immediately taken to the hospital. It is believed that the second child died the next day.

Brandy Moreno, the children's grandmother, has reportedly set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses, according to KTBS. In a heartbreaking post, she explained that the children had been "abducted and murdered." She wrote, "Last night, my two grandchildren, ages ten months and two years, were abducted and murdered.

Moreno added, "I am setting up this fund to pay for funeral expenses. Please donate if you can and please share this."

Police have established that Anthony and the mother of the two toddlers knew one another, though official information regarding those involved have not yet been made public. Police spokesman Chris Bordelon, said: "We never want to see violent crimes, but when you see violent crimes that are affecting small children and in this case, one of these children was less than a year old. He continued, "That is a certain type of evil that is really hard to put into words and it's very hard to comprehend."

Murder-suicide cases are on the rise, MEAWW a while ago reported Jim Matthews, an overnight anchor at WWJ-AM, died after an alleged murderer attacked him on Friday, September 23. The horrific incident has also sent Matthews’ girlfriend and his two children to the hospital. The age of the woman is believed to be 35 while the children are five and ten-year-olds. Reports also said that the accused was also admitted to the hospital after he tried to take his own life following the attack. Chesterfield Township Police Chief Brian Bassett said, “Our investigation has determined this is an isolated tragedy that does not present a danger to our community at this time. The Chesterfield Public Safety Department will not rest until we have received justice for our victims.”
