The African Savannah Cat Scam

Chloe informed her TikTok fans that she would be looking for a cat to adopt in a video that was posted on March 7, 2023. The following day, she posted another video with a cute brown tabby cat as she continued on her trek to various no-kill shelters and the neighborhood Humane Society.

The issue starts in a subsequent video released on March 8. The shelter insisted the animal was a purebred ‘African Savannah’ cat, which they believe is a rare species, and cost Chloe $900 to adopt the feline.

Moreover, Chloe explained why the shelter had the rescue priced at $900. According to the shelter, the cat was ‘rescued’ from a breeder, who also had five African Savannah kittens with the necessary paperwork. While 4 of them had already been adopted, she managed to locate the final one.

What is an African Savannah cat?

The Savannah Cat has a kind, daring, and devoted personality. She enjoys playing in the water unlike other cats and can even be taught to walk on a leash and play fetch. So don't be misled by her canine demeanor.

Because of their keen hunting instincts, Savannah cats aren't always a good choice for homes with animals like fish, hamsters, and birds. Her demeanor is gentle, though, so with the right socialization as a kitten, she makes a wonderful friend to other cats and dogs, kids, and other people in her home.
