Who is Adam Carolla? Comedian slammed for saying no one would listen to AOC if she was 'fat and old'
Radio host Adam Carolla attempted to troll Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on February 4, 2022, but it didn't appear to go as well as he would've liked. Even Sean Hannity, who was interviewing Carolla seemed to think he'd gone a bit far, after Carolla said the firebrand Democrat is popular because she is "young, she's vibrant, she's beautiful."
Carolla's dig at AOC comes well over a month after the Democrat ignited a storm of her own. On December 31, 2021, AOC tweeted "Republicans are mad they can't date me," while attempting to defend her boyfriend. That predictably set off many conservatives, like Candace Owens who spent plenty of time talking about her. Despite being the subject of frequent attacks, AOC has constantly shrugged them off, usually with a tweet or two.

On this occasion, however, she is yet to respond. Carolla's comments have so far not led to a tweet, but that could change. Other social media users though, were quick to attack the radio host and brutally troll him for his comments.
Who is Adam Carolla?
A comedian and podcaster, Carolla held the Guinness World Record for the most downloaded podcast in 2011. Carolla also has numerous TV shows to his credit, and a handful of movies and books as well. A self-described Republican, Carolla has in recent times moved away from entertaining to politics, taking on Democrats via Twitter. His dig at AOC is also not his first controversial opinion, with Carolla having a long history of courting controversy.
In 2012, he was dubbed as "sexist" after an interview with The New York Post, where Carolla said "dudes are funnier than chicks," and called women "always the least funny on the writing staff." In April 2021, he also appeared on Tucker Carlson's show and said cancel culture is "destroying free speech and killing comedy." In 2020, he defended Jimmy Kimmel after the comedian was slammed for appearing in blackface.
On February 4, Carolla decided to go after AOC when he appeared on Hannity's show. "Here's a quick thought experiment: If AOC was fat and in her 60s, would anyone listen to another thing she ever said?" Carolla told Hannity. Despite Hannity's apprehensive response of "Oh, boy. You're going to step in that one," Carolla continued, "She's young, she's vibrant, she's beautiful and everyone's always putting a camera and a mic in her face. But her opinions are idiotic 95% of the time. And I don't think if she was a middle-aged, heavy-set woman anyone would care what she had to say."
He ended his comments by saying, "I'm just saying if she was fat and old I don't think TMZ would be chasing her around with a camera." That was despite Hannity responding, "I'm not so sure I agree." Internet users though were less subtle in their criticism of Carolla.
Carolla dubbed 'master of idiotic opinions'
"What’s ironic is Adam Carolla got fat & old and no one cares what he thinks, either," one person trolled. Another slammed, "If Adam Carolla were thin, good-looking and young, he would still be a flaming a-----e." One user tweeted, "Adam Carolla is so stupid he actually thinks his comment about AOC -- that no one would listen to her if she was "fat and in her 60s" -- is a slam on her, rather than a confirmation of the grotesque misogyny that has defined his entire career."

"Women can’t exist in public without offending misogynists like Adam Carolla. First AOC was too young, then she was “just a bartender,” and now people only listen to her because she’s cute? F--k Adam Carolla," another angry person commented. One person trolled, "When @adamcarolla talks about idiotic opinions, we’d best listen. He is a master of the genre." Another user mocked, "Who the f--k is Adam Carolla? Is that a knock-off of a mid-range Toyota?"
