WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden has signed the historic Respect for Marriage Act, cementing into law federal protection for both same-sex and interracial marriages. The signing at the White House was a celebration for supporters of the measure and a massive win for the LGBTQ community. To commemorate the occasion, Biden invited an NYC drag artist, Marti G Cummings. While Biden made history yet again, people were worried about the choice of guest due to Cummings' previous tweets allegedly targeting children and the police, as per Fox News.

While talking about the invitation and a win for the LGBTQ community, Cummings took to Twitter and wrote, "To be a non-binary drag artist invited to the White House is something I never imagined would happen. Thank you President & Dr. Biden for inviting me to this historic bill signing. Grateful doesn’t begin to express the emotions I feel." However, there is outrage due to Cummings' alleged previous tweets as one of them read, "The kids are out to sing and suck d!" Back in 2020, she also talked about defunding police in an explosive tweet, as per the news outlet. People are now wondering whether Cummings was the right person to be in the White House or not.

Who is Marti G Cummings?

Cummings is an NYC drag artist television personality and political figure with an experience of almost a decade. They are a regular television face as you can see them on Fusion television's 'Shade Queens of NYC', 'The Marti Report' on LOGO, 'Dragged' on Yahoo!, and 'The X Change Rate' on The Build Series. As per their website, they have delivered several sold-out concerts at 54 Below, Lincoln Centers Big Apple Circus, and Dixon Place and regularly tour the world with Atlantis Cruises. They are running for city council in NYC's 7th District. In addition to this, they also serve on the Board of Directors for The Ali Forney Center for Homeless LGBTQ Youth, the Advisory Board of Equality NY, a National Co-Chair of Drag Out the Vote and serves on the NYC Nightlife Advisory Council as well as Community Board 9. 

Marti G Cummings past controversial tweets spark outrage after White House invitation

One user tweeted, "This is the non-binary drag queen Biden invited to the White House to attend today's Respect for Marriage Act signing ceremony. Marti G. Cummings, an anti-police activist, believes "The kids are out to sing and suck d!" and "Anyone who thinks drag isn't for children is wrong." 

One user wrote, "So why invite Marti Gould Cummings, a nonbinary drag queen who has repeatedly attacked police online, to attend the Respect for Marriage Act signing ceremony Tuesday. In February, Biden remarked that "the answer is not to defund the police" Such a LIAR." Another user tweeted, "The tweet image below is from marti g, the drag queen that biden personally invited to the WH marriage equality act signing ceremony. This needs SHUT DOWN. (apologize for how graphic it is)."

One user quipped, "Biden invited a anti police trans whatever Marti Gould Cummings. who performs in front of children. This is not about love this is about perversion and indoctrination." Another user tweeted, "The depravity within these peoples ranks is simply disgusting. This is exactly why we cant keep quiet. We need to stop blurring the lines of morality. This had gotten out of hand. If its not too far now. What will be considered too far. This is despicable and unacceptable 1000%"
