RADOM, POLAND: Hulu's ongoing drama series 'We Were the Lucky Ones' focuses on a Jewish family's tenacity during World War II.

The series follows the Kurcs family, who are ripped apart at the onset of the war and are desperate to survive while longing for reunification.

Amidst this, Mila Kurc (Hadas Yaron) has endured the greatest loss as her doctor husband Selim (Michael Aloni) is missing after the war, leaving her to care for her toddler daughter Felicia (Belle Swarc) on her own.

As Mila returns home after a failed attempt to leave Palestine, a quick chat with her childhood friend Isaac (Ido Samuel) hints at a romantic fondness of his towards her, which can add further twists to her plotline in the future.

What did Isaac tell Mila Kurc in 'We Were the Lucky Ones' Episode 5

Mila returned to the Kurc family after bribing a German soldier to spare her life, where her father, Sol Kurc (Lior Ashkenazi), expressed his displeasure at the ruse of going to Palestine and blamed Isaac for failing to control fake promises to Palestine.

So why did Sol question Isaac about the botched escape? Because Isaac is in the police and he must combat such frauds.

Isaac tries to inform the family that things are getting out of hand and that he is still attempting to restore peace.

In a vulnerable state of mind, Isaac tells Mila that he cares about her and Felicia and wants them to remain silent because it will increase German aggressiveness towards them.

Mila later encountered a disjointed Isaac and invited him to stay with them, to which he responded with a clear query, showing that he felt more than friends with Mila.

He asks her if he will be staying with them as her friend or Felicia's uncle with a despondent expression, but Mila's response is unexpected, as she states that her entire family cared for him.

A brief quiet between them occurs, and Isaac's look is more than enough to convince us of his love for Mila; it is also clear that Mila senses this as well, but she ignores it.

Does Isaac have romantic feelings for Mila Kurc?

Isaac's heartfelt revelation and his desire to protect Mila and Felicia hint at a deeper sentiment that can easily be passed as romantic feelings.

However, things may not go as well as Isaac had hoped because Mila is currently dealing with several issues.

Her daily life has been disrupted since Selim's disappearance, and she now has Felicia to keep safe amidst growing anti-Jewish sentiments.

With an indication of Isaac's feelings, things will become more complicated for her, potentially introducing a love triangle, especially since Selim is missing.

The glimpse of Isaac's love for Mila foreshadows a complicated situation in which potential conflicts between the family and authorities would undoubtedly arise, adding to Mila's already difficult task of protecting her daughter.

Five episodes of 'We Were the Lucky Ones' are available to stream on Hulu.
