Streaming on Apple TV+, the series follows the sourcebook, introducing us to Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a Physics professor who is abducted by an alternate version of himself and thrust into another reality, while the other Jason seamlessly integrates into his universe.
Is Daniela Dessen suspicious of Jason 2 in Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter'?
After the mind-boggling abduction in Episode 1, we see Jason 2 trying to fit into Jason's reality.
Beyond their physical and genetic resemblance, both Jasons share a deep love for Daniela Dessen (Jennifer Connelly). What Jason 2 lacks are the memories that Jason forged with Daniela over the 15 years of their marriage.
Jason 2 is constantly struggling to discover what happened in Jason's life in the last 15 years. He relies on the calendar, recorded videos, and social media posts to engage in conversations with family and friends.
However, there are moments when Daniela notices Jason 2's odd behavior. For instance, she finds it unusual when he deviates from Jason's usual carefree attitude, such as ordering the most expensive wine on a date night.
Daniela is confused by the noticeable changes in his behavior. However, Jason 2 manages to charm her with his romance and a fake story of how an accident changed his attitude towards life.
For now, Daniela is enjoying the reignited spark in their marriage. However, it is only a matter of time before she realizes that something has shifted around them, and the man she's been sharing her bed with isn't the one she married.
Will Jason Dessen return to his original reality in 'Dark Matter'?
Jason Dessen is desperate to return to his reality, showing little interest in the reputation and accomplishments that Jason 2 built as a physicist. For Jason, it is his wife and son who matter the most.
Despite Velocity's resources at his disposal, Jason is unable to find a way back to his reality. He goes through Jason 2's work and scientific developments to understand his experiment.
However, the growing adversities force him to flee with Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga).
In 'Dark Matter' Episode 3, Jason and Amanda attempt to switch realities as they step inside the box. However, they find themselves in an infinite corridor instead.
For now, the chances of Jason returning home look bleak. However, we know that he isn't going to give up and will eventually find a way back to his reality.
