A London-based socialite has claimed that her husband, who is the former son-in-law of Vladimir Putin, has taken their newborn daughter and is currently hiding her in Moscow.

Russian celebrity Zhanna Volkova, who is reportedly married to the country's 'youngest billionaire' Kirill Shamalov, claims she was not allowed to meet the baby, which was born via surrogate in October. The London-based jet-setting investor claims an associate of her estranged husband has warned her not to try to see the child. Shamalov, who was previously married to Putin's youngest daughter Katerina Tikhonova, is said to have maintained close ties to the Russian strongman.

According to the Daily Mail, Volkova and Shamalov tied the knot in 2018 but were unsuccessful in conceiving a child. They even tried several rounds of IVF but eventually had to hire a surrogate through a Moscow-based agency. Their relationship, however, broke down as the pregnancy approached its final stages. Volkova, who left for London, said that she was subsequently cut out of the surrogacy. She was later informed by the Moscow agency that they no longer had any contact with the surrogate carrying their child.

"I was stuck in London with Covid," she told the newspaper. "As soon as I could, I flew to Moscow." Volkova visited the residence she shared with Shamalov on the outskirts of the city. "I waited for him for three days," she said before he came home and told her, "He has a new girlfriend but he did not want a divorce. He wanted to hurt me." The 44-year-old socialite said that her husband's lawyers demanded she sign away her rights to see the baby, but she refused. Volkova said she became afraid for her life and took the first flight out of Moscow.  "I heard he named her Anna, though we had agreed on Elizabeth after the Queen. Russian police don't want to know so I'm opening the case here in London," she explained.

Volkova said that she learned Shamalov is currently dating fashion designer Anastasia Zadorina, who is reportedly the daughter of a top FSB general. Zadorina was in Dubai last week to celebrate her boyfriend's 40th birthday. According to the newspaper, Shamalov's previous marriage to Putin's daughter Katerina collapsed after he started a relationship with Volkova. A source close to the billionaire said he had "loved Zhanna very much" but wasn't happy with her bid to obtain British citizenship while he was sanctioned by Western nations for his alleged Kremlin links.

Zadorina is the founder of the haute couture brand anastaiAZadorina as well as the Zasport label, which is the official outfitter for the Russian Olympic team. She has previously designed t-shirts with Russian patriotic messaging. "Topol is not afraid of sanctions," one of the shirts read, referring to Russia's intercontinental ballistic missile called Topol. Another shirt reads, "Sanctions? Don't make fun of my Iskanders."

On the other hand, Volkova is currently living in London with her twin sister and a teen son from a previous marriage. She said she's divorcing Shamalov and has a prenuptial agreement to the tune of a whopping $59 million. However, she bemoaned how she only possesses a 3D scan of her newborn daughter. "I live with this small picture. I want her to know she has a mother who didn't run away from her. He can keep the £45million. I just want to see her," the embattled mother told the Mail.
