'Snyder Cut' to release early or mid-July 2021, but will it be a full feature release or six-part series?
Fans have been lapping up every bit of information available on the internet ever since Zack Snyder announced the release of the elusive and much-anticipated Snyder Cut of 'Justice League'. Last week, they released a sneak peek that teased the maiden appearance of Darkseid in the DCEU. The director tweeted the footage also hinting there's more at the upcoming DC FandDom convention.
And now, the film has a release window, which would be early or mid-July 2021, according to Sandra Dewey, president of productions and business operations for WarnerMedia Entertainment, in her interview with Variety. According to a CBR report, the discussions of releasing the cut as a six-part series or a full feature are still on and while it may not involve any reshoots, there is still a possibility of some new lines being recorded. Reports have also said the film would be needing more money than initially expected to be completed.
Earlier, Twitter went berserk after the reveal. At the time of the announcement, there were 7000+ tweets that had people talking about The Snyder Cut. "Finally 2021 Here it comes #SnyderCut@ZackSnyder just showed this in his #ManOfSteel #watchparty I am crying with joy, our dreams are becoming a reality #ReleaseTheSnyderCut," a fan tweeted. "THANK YOU FOR THIS BLESSING," wrote a fan. 'Subscribing immediately. Thank you," another fan exclaimed.
Last year, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot jumped on the bandwagon of stars and fans calling for the release of director Snyder's cut of 'Justice League'. The actors who played Batman and Wonder Woman in the ensemble DC Superhero film joined the movement on Twitter using the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.
For those who're still don't know what this is all about, the cut refers to Snyder's original edit of the film which was shelved when he and his wife Deborah Snyder stepped away from the project following a family tragedy. Joss Whedon, the 'Avengers' writer-director was roped in to wrap up reshoots and production. The film was a damp squib and left fans unhappy with the final version of the film.
'Justice League' has a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with the critic consensus reading: "Justice League leaps over a number of DC movies, but its single bound isn't enough to shed the murky aesthetic, thin characters, and chaotic action that continue to dog the franchise."
The Snyder Cut is slated to release in July 2021.
