'Young Sheldon' Season 4 Episode 6 not airing: Here's the release date and what to expect when show returns

The last episode of 'Young Sheldon' Season 4 Episode 5 'A Musty Crypt and a Stick to Pee On' aired on Thursday, December 17, 2020, and it's been a while since we've been waiting for a new episode. Even though 'Young Sheldon' Season 4 Episode 6 'Freshman Orientation and the Inventor of the Zipper' was originally slated to release on Thursday, January 7, 2021, it has not been moved to a later date.
However, the episode will not air on
the said date. During the winter break, the official synopsis for the new episode was also released. It reads, "College orientation does not go as Sheldon planned. Also, Mary is invited to a party when she’s mistaken for a university student, and George Sr. helps Pastor Jeff set up a children’s nursery."
Fans have been waiting for this episode only because we FINALLY see Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) get closer to attending college. On Jan 7, instead of a new episode, Season 4 Episode 1 'Graduation' will re-air and next week on Thursday, January 14, 2021, Season 4 Episode 2 'A Docent, A Little Lady and a Bouncer Named Dalton' will re-air. Then fans can gear for the new episode, as we see try to figure out what problems Sheldon faces during his college orientation.
The title for Episode 6 was released a while back, so many have already been expecting this scenario. Sheldon, although a genius and completely ready for college academically, is not mature enough to enter a whole new part of life that usually involves 18-year-olds. He's an eccentric boy with many quirks and also likes things done a particular way. So we're sure he's bound to face a bit of trouble as he tries to navigate this new world around him.
Of course, the family life at home with the Coopers has to go on, so we're interested to see what the "inventor of the Zipper" part of the title means. We're usually presented with episodes that leave us in splits, so we're expecting much entertainment from the new episode. While it's disappointing that we have to wait longer for the new episode, we think that it may be worth it. There was no reason given by the network as to why a new episode is not airing, but according to one report by cartermatt it may be because the network is saving its episodes for next month where the views may be a lot higher considering now, many are focused on the political news breaking in the country right now.
'Young Sheldon' airs on Thursdays at 8 pm EST on CBS.
