YouTuber Deji Olatunji asks fans to help save his dog Tank after judge rules that it be put down for attacking a neighbor
Oladeji Olatunji, the famous YouTuber who goes by "Deji" when he vlogs, is seeking the help of his fans to save his dong Tank who attacked a woman recently. He had appeared in the Cambridge Crown Court earlier this month with his mother Olayinka, where they both pleaded guilty to being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control after the court heard that his German Shepherd had bitten a woman from the neighborhood who had gone to collect a parcel from their house.
The court hearing, which was held on 23 July 2018, according to Lad Bible, was presided by Judge David Farrell QC, who ordered the YouTuber to pay a fine of £2,500. Olayinka, meanwhile, was also asked to pay a fine of £8,000 as reparations to the victim. They were also was also given a 12-month community order and told to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work. Beyond this, the mother and son were forced to pay £2,082.50 and £5,845 respectively to cover the kennel costs to keep Tank "pending destruction."
While ruling for Tank to be put down in a court hearing held on 17 December, Judge Farrell said, "The events that gave rise to the charges occurred outside your home involving your Alsatian dog who was 13 months old at the time. He came out of your home and attacked your neighbor who was led into your driveway area to pick up a parcel. Jennifer had therefore been invited in and as she was about to leave, the automatic gates closed, trapping her in the driveway area while your dog, Tank, escaped and then viciously attacked her."
"It's clear from the CCTV that was operating in the area from your premises that the dog was completely out of control and you, Olayinka, were totally unable to exercise any control over him," the judge added. Despite the ruling, Deji has decided to fight for his dog and has asked his millions of followers to help him. "I'm going to be appealing to save Tank's life and I want you to just help me. I want you to tell your friends, your family, everyone, anyone you know. I just want you to help me please because together we can save Tank, together we can save a life," he said adding how Tank is his first dog and how much he loves him.
A petition set up by a fan last year has already racked up almost 500,000 votes.
