A nurse tragically slipped through a hole on a tottering zipline platform and fell 60 feet to her death.

23-year-old Yasmili Araujo visited a water park with her boyfriend and pals on Saturday, July 2. First-hand witnesses recalled how she climbed to the top of a zipline platform without any protection at the Piracema Park Club in Brazil. However, just moments before being provided a safety harness, Araujo slipped through a hole on the platform and plummeted to the ground.

Firemen who treated Araujo at the scene in the northern city of Rio Branco noted how the victim fell a whopping 20 meters (66 ft). Emergency responders subsequently rushed her to the hospital with several fractures, but the pretty nurse died of a heart attack en route.

Disturbing images from the waterpark allegedly show the hole she slipped through before falling to her death. According to fireman lieutenant Eurico Fernando, the launch platform for the ziplines had not been signed off by an engineer. Furthermore, he claimed the structure had been hastily installed just the morning the recent graduate died. "It was assembled at the last minute, it was ready on the morning of the 2nd," he said. "They did it very quickly, possibly this rush in the assembly of this structure is a preponderant factor in trying to explain what happened."

While the park did not respond to the allegation, the case has since been reported to the authorities and an investigation is currently underway. However, the water park said in a statement, "Piracema Park Club provided all support and attention to the young woman's family and after the accident, closed the activities of the attraction, which will only return to operation after an investigation by the relevant authorities regarding the causes of the accident."

MEAWW had previously reported how a California zipline official sacrificed his life to save a woman after fearing they would both fall under their combined weight. Thirty-four-year-old Joaquin Romero was employed with the La Jolla Zip Zoom Zipline on the La Jolla Indian Reservation in the Pauma Valley in California. He was helping the woman, who wasn't identified, get hooked on the zipline on October 30, 2021, when she slid out on the line. Romero allegedly grabbed onto her harness to stop her but got dragged away from the platform in the process.

According to Fox 8, the pair dangled roughly 100 feet above the ground. An unnamed pal of Romero said he feared both him and the woman would fall from the extra weight, and so he decided to let go. According to the report, a zip line usually has the capacity to hold 250 pounds, with a minimum of 65 pounds. Romero plummeted 100 feet and sustained major trauma injuries before he was rescued by Cal Fire who used a low-angle rope system to pull him to the roadside. The official was subsequently airlifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego, where he succumbed to his injuries.

It's worth noting that approximately 16 people die every year from ziplines.
