Spoiler alert for 'Wynonna Earp' Season 4 Episode 4 - 'Afraid'

Emily Andras, the showrunner of Syfy's 'Wynonna Earp' is a true genius — who else could weave together humor and horror so effortlessly? This week's episode of 'Wynonna Earp' started off pretty fun, but it soon became one of the most frightening episodes of the series as an invisible Reaper — visible only to those whom it is sent to reap — went after Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano).

It was soon revealed that the family at the junkyard visited by Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell) and Rachel Valdez (Martina Ortiz-Luis) were actually descendants of the Clantons, a rival family of the Earps. We also learn that the new magistrate, Cleo (Savannah Basley), and the new sheriff, Claiborne (Ty Olsson), are both Clantons as well — we knew something was up when both of them seemed quite antagonistic to Wynonna as soon as we met them. But it looks like Mama Clanton might take the cake to be the worst of them all — she seems quite unforgiving towards the other Clantons as well.

The Reaper that was sent after Wynonna finally found her in a precarious position — she had handcuffed herself to a crate of booze being transported by the Black Badge Division that Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) wanted to steal. Wynonna got more and more terrified as the Reaper unfailingly pursued her. It was only when Rachel's friend, Billy Clanton, sacrificed himself (thinking that the Reaper was sent after Rachel) that the Reaper left Wynonna alone.

Fans agreed that this was one of the most terrifying episodes of 'Wynonna Earp'. One fan tweeted, "oh no wynonna being so terrified and crying is devastating me #WynonnaEarp." Another wrote, "Yo, this shit is terrifying #WynonnaEarp #FiveForWynonna #WynonnaWatchParty @emtothea is your brain okay? Do you not have night terrors from your own mind?" A fan opined, "I know it’s not supposed to be it this episode feels so much like a Halloween episode #WynonnaEarp." A fan tweeted, "I’ve never seen Wynonna that scared, that’s when you know the threat is REAL #WynonnaWatchParty #WynonnaEarp."
