Spoilers for 'Wynonna Earp' Season 4 Episode 3 'Look At Them Beans'

This week's episode, the third of the fourth season, of 'Wynonna Earp' was just a lot of catching up, but it was special for one reason — star Melanie Scrofano, who plays the titular Wynonna Earp, made her directorial debut with 'Look At The Beans', which among other things, saw Wynonna getting arrested for Sheriff Randy Nedley's (Greg Lawson) supposed murder.

At the end of the previous episode, we saw Wynonna, Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) return from the Garden of Eden to Purgatory. The happiness is short-lived, however, as they realize they have come to a Purgatory 18 months after anarchy has set in. This week's episode sees Wynonna arrested after she is accused of murdering Nedley. While she is in jail, she meets Casey (Andrew Phung) who fills her in on what happened in Purgatory over the past 18 months.

Purgatory is not as we have ever seen it before. People are being hanged at the center of the town, Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell) seems quite unlike herself, demons run the town and a new Magistrate, Cleo (Savannah Basley), and a new Sheriff, Clayborn (Ty Olsson). The Magistrate and Sheriff are soon revealed to be more nefarious as Wynonna is supposedly set free after a chili cook-off, only to be given as a beast's next meal to protect the town. Waverly saves Wynonna and, as it turns out, Nedley is not really dead, just possessed by a demon, and he survives as well.

Given all that, Scrofano had her job cut out for her as she directed this week's episode which had an abundance of action, and as is traditional for the Syfy show, dirty one-liners. Fans started tweeting "#ProudOfMel" even before the episode began to air, and their faith in her was justified as they applauded Scrofano's work.

A fan tweeted, "I’m so extremely proud of @melaniescrofano for venturing out into something new!! only 10 minutes into the episode and she’s already done an amazing job!! i love you so incredibly much #ProudOfMel #WynonnaEarp."

Another wrote, "Yes! I saw Melanie's name as Director! Win for #WynonnaEarp for sure #ProudOfMel."

A fan joked, "And it wouldn’t be a melanie directed ep without a d**k joke #WynonnaEarp #ProudOfMel."

Another wrote, "I'm so f***ing proud of DirectHer Melanie Scrofano, my heart can't take it #WynonnaEarp #ProudOfMel."

A fan tweeted, "Only an episode directed by @MelanieScrofano could make me this emotional at 3.30am #ProudOfMel #WynonnaEarp #WynonnaWatchParty."

'Wynonna Earp' airs on Syfy on Sunday nights at 10/9c.
