'Wu-Tang: An American Saga' Season Finale: The show reaches a critical point as the origin story of the Wu-Tang Clan comes to an end
On Wednesday, October 23, the final episode of 'Wu-Tang: An American Saga' will be available to stream on Hulu. The show so far revealed a lot of backstory and tidbits that weren't familiar to fans who have been lapping up the episodes as they air each week. We learned about Bobby's older brother, Divine, getting arrested, Bobby's sister Shurrie (who is an amalgamation of the real-life RZA's sisters) finding love with Dennis (Ghostface Killah, about Dennis's house getting shot up by Sha (Raekwon), that Method Man used to play lacrosse, and more tragically, the death of Ernest Sayon -- portrayed as the character Haze -- that catalyzed the members of Park Hill and Stapleton to put aside their rift.
We still haven't gotten to the point where the RZA brings together the individual members or how Divine and Power came to manage the group, but all that is set to finally come to light as fans eagerly await the season finale. In the last couple of episodes, we see Bobby's turn as Prince Rakeem and his failed deal with Tommy Boy Records (a loss they must surely regret now). Bobby is now ready to bring together multiple rappers of Staten Island -- Shaolin, as the group has named the borough -- to form a mega-group. The only person who is against this is Dennis, who still holds a grudge after the shooting incident from the first episode.
But at the end of the last episode, Bobby's tapes are stolen by Attila -- who many fans are speculating to be Cappadonna -- and are being held for ransom. Dennis puts aside his anger at Bobby for working with Sha and Shotgun (Method Man) to help his friend get his music back. This could be what finally forces Dennis to reckon with the greatness they did not know lies ahead, should these rappers come together. In a sneak peek of the finale, we see him reluctantly bobbing his head along to some music Bobby plays for him, with an almost-smile appearing on his face.
In the trailer for the final episode, this is shown to be a major plotline. But besides that, we also see Jake Hoffman as Steve Rifkind, whom we saw briefly before, and in the trailer, he says he wants to meet with them, "all of them" -- and if this moment wasn't enough to induce goosebumps, we even see glimpses of the crew rapping together. We also see Power telling Sha that the police are after them. Bobby gets a gun because Attila is still after him and in the closing shot of the trailer, someone tells Bobby that it is up to him how it all goes down.
Many speculate that this is based on the time Bobby got arrested -- he faced eight years in jail but was found not guilty by the jury. This was the turning point in his life and a little over a year later, the Wu-Tang Clan released their first album. Whether all these events will be shown or whether the final episode will end on a cliffhanger we don't know yet. Fans are hoping for the latter, so they get to see more of the history of the group.
