LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Woody Harrelson might have presented more proof to back up his idea that he and the ‘Interstellar’ star Matthew McConaughey are indeed half-brothers. Harrelson revealed in a new interview that when McConaughey was born in 1969, his father allegedly informed his mother, "that ain't my son" and refused to accompany her to the hospital.

The ‘White House Plumbers’ star Harrelson commented on the possibility of him being the half-brother of McConaughey, "I don't know because we haven't done the testing," and added, "but I can say that there's a lot of almost insane coincidences. His mom had a relationship with my dad right around the time he was conceived," as per Esquire.

'My God, the similarities!'

Confirming the rumors, Harrelson said, “Well, it’s very much true. I learned from Ma Mac, Matthew’s mother, that she did have a relationship with my father for a relatively short period of time that coincided with the time that his father and mother were on a sabbatical, and with the time of Matthew’s, let’s say, origination." He further added when asked if they got a test done, “We haven’t done a test, but there are too many times that I think to myself, My God, the similarities! The things he does, the things he says - just the way he is. I’ve felt that for years.”

‘Woody, I knew your dad’

During an interview with Kelly Ripa, Harrelson revealed that he "knew that detail" years before McConaughey's mother, Mary Kathleen McCabe, suggested she had an intimate relationship with Harrelson's father, Charles Harrelson, reports Fox News

In April, McConaughey told Kelly Ripa on her SiriusXM 'Let's Talk Off Camera' podcast that his mother told Harrelson she "knew" his father during a trip to Greece a few years ago. He shared, "In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families," before adding, "My mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’ . . . Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W." McConaughey had previously shared his suspicions that his mother, Mary, had an alleged sexual encounter with Harrelson’s father, Charles, after she made a cryptic remark about knowing him.

McConaughey explained. "We went on to unpack what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that [Harrelson’s] dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce. Then there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment."

‘That’s part of our bromance’

In the same interview with Kelly Ripa, McConaughey shared, "You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line … that’s part of our bromance, right?" before explaining, "My kids call him Uncle Woody. His kids call me Uncle Matthew… you see pictures of us and my family thinks a lot of pictures of him are me. His family thinks a lot of pictures of me are him," as per Fox News.

Upon finding these family details, McConaughey admitted he looked into his mother's past to find the truth. He admitted that Harrelson's father may have dated McConaughey's mother during his parents' divorce. "Then there [are] possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment,” said the father of three.

However, on being asked whether either of them took the DNA test, "This is what we're on the precipice of now," was his reply. He explained later, "It's a little easier for Wood to say, 'Come on, let's do it,' because what's the skin in it for him?" before adding, "It's a little harder for me because he's asking me to take the chance to go, 'Wait a minute, you're telling me my dad may not be my dad of 53 years' and believe in it? I got a little more skin in the game."

Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey's professional connection

The two stars have already starred together in movies like ‘EDtv’ (1999), ‘Surfer, Dude’ (2008), and the drama series ‘True Detective’. Harrelson and McConaughey, who already share a very good camaraderie, are all set to appear on the Apple TV+ comedy ‘Brother From Another Mother’ supposedly based on their own story.
