NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: A group of women celebrating a bachelorette party has been accused of defying Covid-19 restrictions in a Nashville restaurant while one of them even coughed three times on a worker. Mikey Corona, co-owner of The Mockingbird, said that they have filed a police report against the bachelorettes for their belligerent behavior. Surveillance video captured the group, the screenshot of which has been shared on Twitter by Matthew Torres - a reporter and traveler.

Corona posted about the incident on a Facebook group called Nashville Hospitality Professionals (NHP) warning other restaurants. He wrote: “Nashville Hospitality Peeps! Be on the lookout for a group of 10 bachelorettes tonight (Friday, August 1st, 2020 around 8:15 pm - made a call ahead under the name MEAGAN CROOK) that came in to our restaurant and threw a fit because we couldn’t sit them at one long continuous table due to phase 2 restrictions (no more than 6 guests per table). They even began to defy the rules and pull the tables together themselves. After we told them we can be reported for violating this condition of Nashville’s Phase 2, they got up and stormed out-most not wearing a mask as they left (and even arguing with other tables as they even were telling them to put their masks on), but before they left one of them that refused to wear their mask on the way out turned her head and coughed a few times on one of our team members.”

The co-owner also asked for help in identifying the women and on Tuesday, August 4, he posted, “We’ve turned over all information to the police and then they will hand off to the DA office. Thank y’all for your help. Our only goal has been to get the information of the individual that did this to our team member, and y’all have aided us in gathering that data to get us closer to identifying the individual. We wish no harm on any of the group- we only needed them to give us information since we weren’t able to get it that evening since the person of interest had left our premises before the police showed up. If any other information comes through- please feel free to send my way. Again, thank y’all. Be safe out there Nashville Hospitality Professionals (NHP)!”

While talking to NewsChannel about the alleged incident, Corona said that they love “tourists because that's what helps keep us alive. Please come, but when you come in here with your bedazzled cowboy boots and stomp all over us like some mat, that's not okay. We are here to show you a good time."

He added that most of the women in the group were not even wearing face masks given the coronavirus crisis. One woman also allegedly turned her head and coughed at least three times on an assistant general manager as they were leaving. The report stated that the manager who was coughed on has not returned to work as she needs to be tested for the deadly virus. “Our staff’s safety is paramount. We will go to any length to do so,” Corona mentioned.

It has been said that the staff is waiting for development into the case as it has been found that the women were from Alabama. No arrest has been made yet, but the investigation is in process.

Meanwhile, chef and restaurateur Maneet Chauhan deemed the incident as hateful. She is the owner of a number of restaurants and breweries in Nashville. Chauhan noted how such incidents are seemingly rare in the area and most of her guests comply with the new rules due to the pandemic. "It really hasn't been difficult. People have been very, very, very respectful of what is required when you come into the restaurant,” she added.
