Woman confronts Amazon worker pooping in her garden while delivering in neighborhood, told 'what's your problem'
A woman was shocked to find an Amazon delivery guy taking a dump in her garden before he was supposed to deliver a package in the neighborhood.
NHS counselor Sharon Smith, 53, said that she was cooking in her kitchen in Nuthall, Nottingham on July 26 when she witnessed the bizarre sight. A van pulled up outside her home and she saw a man run from the vehicle to her garden. Sharon said that she followed him fearing he was stealing wood from her. What met her eyes was shocking. The man was seen squatting on among trees and pooing on her property.
"I cannot express how shocked I was, I could not believe what I was seeing in this day and age,'' she said, The Sun said. ''When he pulled up and ran to the garden, I thought he was a builder stealing wood or something so I chased after him."
She said that when she confronted the man about his actions, he simply ignored her. But she said that she was not the kind of woman to leave the matter alone. "He just remained pooing whilst asking me what my problem was - the cheek of it," she said. "He messed with the wrong woman - I'm a blue belt in taekwondo, and the anger and rage he saw was enough to put the fear of God in him. I made it clear I was calling the police and if he moved he'd regret it. He emerged from the bush quite aggressive but I was angrier than him so kept him there till my husband, and then the police arrived."
Smith said that she was startled to see that the man, who turned out to be an Amazon driver, went onto deliver a package at her neighbor's house. "To openly take a poo, that's just not the done thing! I even asked him - well, screamed at him - if he thought that was acceptable and he just said that he needed to go," she said. "I think the bigger problem is what Amazon expect their drivers to do for toilet breaks as people will be reluctant to let them use their toilet due to Covid."
Police arrived at the scene and questioned the delivery driver who claimed he was desperate to visit a washroom. He added that he was not feeling well and did not realize the grounds were part of a private garden. Although the authorities made the decision not to arrest the Amazon employee on the condition that he cleans up the mess and that his employer would be notified of the incident.
When Amazon was informed of the incident, Sharon was told that the driver would be removed from duties as an investigation was launched into what had happened. Sharon was also promised a gift voucher as a form of a goodwill gesture from Amazon. She is yet to receive the present. "This does not reflect the high standards we have for our delivery partners,'' an Amazon rep said. "The driver will no longer be delivering on behalf of Amazon."
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "We received a report of anti-social behavior at a property in Houghton Close, Nuthall, on Sunday 26 July 2020. The incident was resolved. No offenses were disclosed and no arrests made.”
